What in the world is going on with the Broward County Sheriff’s Department?


While the Leftist are exploiting the Parkland Massacre in a Broward County Florida high school for gun control, more and more indications the Broward County Sheriff Department (BCSD) was so derelict in procedural management that this police department is quite probably responsible for 17 murdered individuals and some wounded.

The latest Florida school shooting is not just tragic, but as one reader pointed out, atrocious. Atrocious because every law enforcement agency involved ignored eleventy billion (approximately) red flags.

 

As more information becomes available, it’s looking more and more like there are some serious problems within the Broward County Sherrif’s [sic] department. We’ve chronicled several of those here, here, and here.

 

The failure of the designated school officer to engage the shooter (he’s now defending himself, saying he believed the shooting was happening outside of the school), then the revelation that four officers sat outside during the bloodbath, EMT’s who weren’t allowed to enter the school and begin working to save the wounded, and that’s just the beginning of what’s turning into an all-out scandal.

 

Most recently, Buzzfeed reported, based on dispatch records they obtained, that the number of calls to the Cruz home was double that disclosed by the BCSD. Most of the calls not mentioned by the BCSD were for domestic disturbance issues, fights between Cruz and his brother, or the like. Nonetheless, they were not included in reports and records released by Broward County.

As heat on the department has intensified, the Broward County Sheriff’s office strongly encouraged all employees to “stand as one” against a “flurry of media allegations.”

For several days, a story suggesting Broward County softened policies against juveniles has made its way around the internet. This story alleges the Broward County Sheriff’s Department was in cahoots with the Broward County School District. An arrangement of some kind was made wherein BCSD would go easy on minors in order to artificially inflate crime statistics, helping both the department and the school district to obtain grant money.

 

The nagging question here: why didn’t Broward County officials take repeated warnings about Cruz seriously? This theory may provide some context.

 

Whether or not this theory is true, we don’t know. What we do know is that according to a handful of experts, Cruz could have faced charges well before he went on a murder rampage had Broward County handled his case differently or even handled his case like other departments in the area.

His troubling behavior gave law enforcement plenty of opportunities to investigate and arrest him — and even take away his guns — long before he shot up Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland last week, according to interviews with former South Florida prosecutors and legal experts.

 

In recent years, South Florida police detectives have arrested a slew of young men in unrelated cases who exhibited similar, troubling behavior on a variety of charges. Cops took them seriously.

 

It never happened with Cruz.

 

“There’s no doubt there was a failure,” former Miami-Dade prosecutor Marshall Dore Louis said of how law enforcement handled tips about Cruz. “The idea that they were aware of it and could do nothing is absurd. … We can’t let this happen again.”

 

…“The standard isn’t whether that information itself was ‘arrestable’ but whether law enforcement had an obligation to investigate a violation of the law,” said John Priovolos, a former Miami prosecutor. “A detective should have been assigned. Subpoenas should have been sent to Instagram to locate the IP address and verify it was Cruz.

 

“Cruz could have been arrested — maybe he would have been diverted to a mental-health court, but he would have been under some sort of supervision.”

 

Even if a case couldn’t have been made, the teen might have been placed squarely on the radar of police analysts who monitor potentially dangerous people who post online, Priovolos said.

 

“At the very least, the most capable intelligence detectives should have been monitoring him,” Priovolos said.

 

But none of that happened. And now 17 people are dead.

Benghazi Cover-up

The anniversary of two Islamic terrorist attacks is coming up on September 11. The first in 2001 on the World Trade Center and the second in 2012 at Benghazi. Justin Smith is writing about the egregious cover-up about Benghazi.

 

Why didn’t the Obama Administration make no effort at a rescue during the thirteen-hour fire fight with Muslim terrorists? Was Obama Administration afraid that secret arms dealing was going on between Muslim terrorists in Libya and Muslim terrorists in Syria? Was there an even more sinister clandestine operation going on that Obama didn’t want the public to know about during an election year? Americans Don’t Leave Americans to Die

Never has America witnessed a more shameful event than on September 11th, 2012, when the Obama administration refused to go immediately to the assistance of the U.S. Consulate and the CIA Annex in Benghazi, Libya, as besieged Americans fought a full pitch battle against a well-planned terrorist attack by Ansar al-Sharia and the Brigades of the Captive Omar Abdul Rahman. Beyond a shadow of doubt, several U.S. military resources were available, despite all administration claims to the contrary, and could have arrived in time to have prevented the deaths of Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, if not Sean Smith and Ambassador Chris Stevens. However, according to numerous well respected sources of unquestionable integrity, various military units received a “stand down” order.

 

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had direct authority over the Libyan facilities. So what happened?

 

Twice after the initial “critic”/Critical Incident Flash, the White House received requests for military assistance during the attack. Twice they denied those requests, before Obama finally ordered Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Hillary Clinton to “do everything possible” to save the remaining Americans at the CIA Annex. And then Obama nonchalantly went to bed, as he was more focused on his next day presidential campaign event.

 

Information released by the Congressional Select Committee on Benghazi shows that at 11:45 PM Washington time (5:54 Benghazi time), more than five hours after Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta issued his order to deploy (military) elements, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough sent an email to the high level representatives of the Executive Branch. McDonough’s primary concern seemed to be the removal of Pastor Jones’ video, of the Prophet Mohammed burning in effigy, rather than ensuring U.S. military forces were moving to rescue the American survivors, who were still fighting for their lives at this time.

 

Just days after the attacks, (Retired Army) Lt. Col. Tony Schaffer told FoxNews that the U.S. planned the invasion of Grenada in 1983 in six hours. He added, “We could have had a strike team on the ground in Benghazi in thirty minutes or less to protect, assist and extract our personnel under attack.”

 

Gregory Hicks, Ambassador Stevens’ State Department deputy, told the Congressional Select Committee on Benghazi that SOCAFRICA commander Lt. Col. Gibson and his team were preparing to board a C-130 from Tripoli to Benghazi, when Gibson received a phone call. He was told not to board the flight. Hicks also testified that the State Department never requested country clearance from Libya for any U.S. forces that night.

 

One CIA contractor, Kris “Tanto” Paranto, who was in the thick of the battle all during that night (’13 Hours’), has since revealed that two AC 130-H “Spectre” gunships were “on call” on 9/11/2012. One was a 45-minute flight away at Naval Air Station Sigonella in Sicily, and its 25mm rapid-fire Gatling guns, 40mm precision Bofors gun and 105mm canon would have made short work of the terrorists, scattering them to the wind.

 

Paranto also knew members of the European Command Commander’s In-Extremis Force (EUCOM/ C-110), which was about 3 hours away on a counter-terrorism training mission in Croatia, and he called them after he and his security team fought their way back to the Annex with the surviving U.S. personnel. The EUCOM loaded up and prepared to leave, when they were stopped around midnight.

 

Pentagon Chief of Staff Jeremy Bash offered the U.S. military’s assistance to the State Department soon after receiving Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s clear and unambiguous orders to go rescue our people. At 7:09 PM Washington time (1:09 AM Benghazi time) Bash informed Hillary Clinton’s office of numerous military assets that were “spinning up as we speak” to deploy to Benghazi. And yet, by the time of the final lethal battle at the CIA Annex, after nearly 8 hours of battle, no assets ordered deployed by Secretary Panetta had even left the ground.

 

Two U.S. Marine Corps Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) platoons stood by at the ready for three hours, changing their uniforms four times due to “diplomatic sensitivities” expressed by Clinton and her staff. Armed predator drones stayed inactive. Marine Expeditionary Units in the Mediterranean stayed aboard ship, and the 173rd Airborne Infantry at Aviano Airbase in Italy never made the two-hour flight by C-130.

 

The only military “asset” to reach Benghazi during the attacks was Team Tripoli, military personnel based at the Tripoli Annex, whose presence was unknown to Clinton, Panetta and the Joint Staff. They deployed themselves that night, improvising, persevering and overcoming the odds, because fellow Americans needed them, and they saved American lives.

 

Why didn’t Hillary Clinton request the deployment of U.S. military resources? One AFRICOM commander said, “The State Department was concerned that an overt U.S. military presence in Libya could topple the government.”

 

More importantly, who was the leak at the State Dept. that gave the terrorists ten-days prior notice of Ambassador Stevens’ arrival in Libya? — a trip that was supposed to be a secret. What role did Clinton advisor Huma Abedin play in this? — Abedin, who has long advocated for Sharia law and has deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist organization, and the radical Imam Yusuf al-Qaradawi through her parents, Syed and Saleha Abedin.

 

Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty both died in the final hours of the attacks. Charles Woods spoke to the Citizens’ Committee on Benghazi this June (WND), stating: “My son and the rest would still be alive if there were any attempt made at a rescue … I want to know who was responsible for my son’s death.”

 

Mr. Woods and the family members of Chris Stevens, Sean Smith and Glen Doherty may soon have more definitive answers. The FBI has just recently recovered 30 Benghazi related emails that Hillary Clinton deleted.

 

Representative Mike Pompeo (R-KS) stated: “We expect our government to make every effort to save the lives of Americans who serve in harm’s way. That did not happen in Benghazi. Politics were put ahead of the lives of Americans.

 

Americans don’t leave Americans to die, but this administration and Hillary Clinton did. Obama and Clinton both were derelict in their duties, but Clinton’s black heart and overt malfeasance, with her focus on her Libyan agenda and her personal schemes, left four Americans dead and ten wounded. Thirty-five were waiting in fear, desperate for help. But help never came from Washington, D.C., because Clinton gave the stand down order, which halted the Tactical Operations Center Team Leader’s standard operating procedures at Tripoli’s U.S. Embassy and the deployment of U.S. military assets for a rescue mission. The Pentagon could not act without a specific request for assistance from Clinton’s State Department. All America saw these “Progressives” and their government fail to rescue our people, when most of us would have moved Heaven and Earth to do so.

The statements coming out of the Congressional Oversight Committee’s investigation into the events surrounding the attacks on the consulate and the CIA Annex at Benghazi on 9/11/2012 paint a picture of the Obama administration, Obama, Hillary Clinton, Leon Panetta and the “Yes men” of the Accountability Review Board, that illustrates they are more concerned with advancing the agenda of the Progressive Democratic Party than protecting American citizens. Their own words have shown them unwilling to take responsibility for their own failures regarding their duties in each of their respective positions, as they are also exposed as self-serving liars, incompetents and cowards!

 

On May 12, 2012, Senator Feinstein (D-CA) told David Gregory on Meet the Press that she “saw no malevolence” in the actions of the Obama administration during or after Benghazi. It certainly wasn’t good will that had Obama go to bed without a care in the world and get up the next morning, as if nothing had happened, and go campaign in Nevada. It wasn’t good will that kept Obama, Clinton and Panetta from immediately sending a Special Forces or Quick Response team to rescue survivors, and it wasn’t good will that created twelve different revisions of the CIA’s original Intelligence Report that left no doubt the attack on Benghazi was a terror attack and had nothing to do with an anti-Islamic video or a spontaneous protest!

 

Whose brainchild was the cover story of the anti-Islamic video? Who gave the order for the Special Forces team in Tripoli to stand down? We do need the answers to these questions and more, but in the end, all culpability and responsibility for the lies and the deaths of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glenn Dogherty rests squarely with Obama and Clinton, along with Panetta and General David Petraeus who toed the line and joined the lie.

 

Obama and Clinton knew almost immediately that the U.S. “diplomatic facility” (whatever the administration is calling it today) was under a terrorist attack, because Gregory Hicks, the Deputy Chief of Missions and assistant to Ambassador Stevens spoke with Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State and his boss, at 2:00am the night of the attack, and he briefed her on the events on the ground. Clinton and Obama have been lying through their teeth the entire time, which explains the reason they have persistently stone-walled the Oversight Committee and obstructed the investigation into Benghazi.

 

Most Americans knew right away something was wrong with the Obama administration’s account of the attack on Benghazi. Many of us heard foreign news services such as ‘The Independent’ from the U.K. detailing the attack as a terrorist attack; and, one would have thought that the account given by the Libyan President, which clearly stated Ansar al-Sharia was the perpetrator, would have precluded UN Ambassador Susan Rice from advancing Obama’s and Clinton’s lie.

 

“I was stunned. My jaw dropped, and I was embarrassed,” stated Greg Hicks, when asked about his reaction to Susan Rice’s explanation for the Benghazi attacks.

 

The State Department and spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, in particular, pushed for the removal of all references in the CIA Intelligence Report to Al Qaeda, previous warnings about potential terrorist attacks and Ansar al-Sharia. After meeting with the White House and intelligence agencies, they were worried that the information could be “abused” by members of Congress “to beat up the State Department for not paying attention to warnings”… which was the truth…, as Nuland elaborated, “so why would we want to feed that either?”

 

Nuland just described the inception of a conspiracy, and one in which then CIA Director David Petraeus enjoined by saying what the administration wanted to hear, and Ambassador Pickering enjoined with a substandard ARB Report that was sorely lacking; Greg Hicks was not allowed to review classified ARB documents, and several individuals with firsthand knowledge of the Benghazi attack were never questioned by the ARB, although they were pressing to give their accounts and testimony.

 

On May 8, 2012, Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) asked, ”Isn’t it true that just hours after the attack, the Libyan President called it a terrorist attack?” Hicks replied, “Yes.” Then Gowdy focused on Ambassador Stevens’ last words to Hicks…”we’re under attack!” Gowdy asked, “If a protest was ongoing during some part of the day, wouldn’t a professional career diplomat mention it?” Hicks answered, “Yes.” Gowdy: “Did Ambassador Stevens mention such a protest?” Hicks: “No.”

 

Between January and April 2013, some of the typical responses from the Obama administration have ranged from press secretary Jay Carney’s “Benghazi was a long time ago” to John Kerry’s (new Sec of State) “We have more important things to get on to” and Clinton’s “What difference does it make.” All of these statements show just what little regard they have for the sacrifice made by those four Americans and their deaths in general.

 

Elija Cummings (D-MD), in condescending fashion, relegated the deaths in Benghazi to insignificance by stating, “death is a part of life.” This is a gross insult. However much death is a part of life, we do not require such an explanation, nor does it mean that we want to rush to greet Death or to be refused help to escape Death, especially when the help we ask for is standing nearby… willing and able!

 

The officials at Benghazi and Tripoli were desperate for a rescue mission, but as Lt Colonel Gibson’s Special Forces team prepared to answer the call, they were told to “stand down.” And during this same time frame, Gregory Hicks was having an intense conversation with a furious Mark Thompson, as Thompson and his four man Foreign Emergency Support team were being blocked from responding by their so-called “superiors”!… It’s also unfathomable that a fighter jet could not be scrambled “in less than 22 hours”, as the administration alleges!

 

Secretary of Defense Panetta essentially said, “There’s bullets flying around over there. I’m not going to put my guys in there.” Why do we even have a military or a Special Forces then, if not to walk in harm’s way when American’s come under attack and an imminent threat of death? Panetta, Clinton and Obama took the coward’s way out. “A brave man dies but once…a coward dies a thousand deaths,” except when a man such as Obama is full of hubris and has no sense of shame or honor.

 

The party agenda is the most important item for today’s Progressive Democrats, even more than America’s national security or American lives, and this is, in large part, the reason that Obama and Hillary Clinton fabricated the anti-Islamic video story, as part of a cover up and a conspiracy to hide the fact that the attack on the U.S. Consulate at Benghazi was in fact a terror attack initiated by Al Qaeda affiliate Ansar al-Sharia. Only days before the Benghazi attacks, Obama had stated that Al Qaeda was on the run and decimated and “Osama’s dead”, so he made a conscious decision to present this lie about an anti-Islamic video; he delivered the lie convincingly and with emotion any actor would envy, as a ploy to prevent any new wrinkles from undermining his presidential campaign and to avoid acknowledging that Islam and the world-wide Muslim community hated his administration, just as much as they had hated President Bush’s administration. But when Obama and Clinton had clear signs and career professionals saying that they needed more security, and Obama and Clinton ignored them out of a misplaced need to make Libya appear to be “normalized”, that in and of itself is criminal when it results in the deaths of four fine Americans… cut down in their prime!
