Musharraf Resigns, What Will Follow?

Pervez Musharraf (resignation 2008)

Pervez Musharraf has resigned before an impending impeachment proceedings in Pakistans Parliament.

Essentially Musharraf has been a gobetween between Americas interest in prosecuting the Global War on Terror and the Islamists inside Pakistan that support the Taliban and al Qaeda, the two transnational terrorist organization in collusion for the attack on American soil.

So America, step back and take a breath. A democratically elected government in Pakistan could very possibly be an Islamist government. Imagine that! A Sunni Islamist Nuclear Power very near to an emerging nuclear power of Shiite Islamist Iran. How is that going to work out?

Is there enough hatred between Sunnis and Shiites to offset each other? Or will the Islamist hatred for Israel and America dissolve Sunni/Shiite differences to lead to an American/Israeli confrontation with a potential Islamist united front of Pakistan and Iran?

If the Sunni/Shiite bridge cannot be built, how would a democratically elected Islamist Pakistan government interact with America?
