Intro to ‘America Withdraws From Syria’

President Trump wants to pull out of Syria for the very valid reason of stopping involvement in “endless wars.” The difficulty President Trump is facing is one of our staunchest allies against Islamic terrorism has been a group of stateless Kurds that are located in multiple Muslim nations that include Turkey, Iraq, Iran and of course Syria. The none of those nations have ever had any sympathy for the Kurdish people to form an independent Kurdistan with Turkey being the most vehement AGAINST an independent Kurdistan. Turks and Kurds have ethnic commonality and the Turks have jealously protected their land mass and cultural heritage left over after losing WWI. A Jealousy that during and after WWI has led to genocides of non-Turks residing in former Ottoman Turkey and present Republic of Turkey. Armenian and Greek Christians were the initial genocidal victims. YET because Muslim Kurds did not desire to assimilate to Turkish Islamic culture, Kurds also had and have become victims to Turkish genocidal efforts.

To be realistic though, my guess is Arab and Iranian (history’s Persians) efforts of committing genocide against Kurds has more to do with the lack of power than the lack of will to terminate Kurdish-Cultural Muslims. So, I do have sympathy for stateless Kurds. BUT the problem I have with 21st century Kurds is their independence efforts have been led by Communists. In case you missed the history-memo, Communism is a despotic political movement favoring a State-dominated dictatorship ending political Liberty, Individual Liberty, Religious Liberty (favoring atheism), Market Economies AND not least of all – ENDING National Sovereignty.

 

The Turks are going to exterminate any people they feel is a threat to Turkish-Muslim Culture. That includes Christians, Jews, Shi’ites (primarily Iranian threats) and sadly stateless Communist-oriented Kurds fight for independence which would include some Turkish territory.

 

Supporting today’s Kurds is a complicated proposition. Here are some titles that might lead President Trump to say something like, “Forget about it!”:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Am I defending Turkish instituted genocide? GOD NO! If Muslim-Turks thought they could get away with it, they’d exterminate Americans too. If you doubt that, take a look at Ottoman Turk empire building history.

President Trump’s announcement that the U.S. would be withdrawing from northeast Syria, after a phone call with Turkish President Erdogan and a tweet, created a flurry of condemnation from former military leaders, politicians and the media, who called it a betrayal of the Kurds, “precipitous” and a move that would allow ISIS to renew itself. They act as though our alliance with the Kurds was based on a treaty when it wasn’t, and they ignore the fact that this was a loose alliance of United States and Kurdish interests coinciding on the ISIS terrorism issue; the fact remains that both the United States and the Kurds understood that America wasn’t staying in Syria forever and this withdrawal day was coming one day.

 

No doubt, President Trump could have handled this situation a bit more adroitly, by intensely planning our disengagement through the Pentagon and the State Department, rather than announcing it on October 7th and starting the withdrawal the next day, something that was strongly opposed by the Pentagon. There should have been a plan in place to be implemented that would have afforded the Kurds a safe position, minimizing the “betrayal”, since they have shed blood and lost 11,000 fighters in the fight against ISIS, at the behest of the U.S.; and, Turkey’s concerns should have been met too, since the PKK [Kurdistan Workers’ Party] communists, a designated terrorist organization, were the operational head of the Kurdish forces in the north even though sixty-five percent of the population in that area are Christian Arabs and Yazidis.

 

Obviously, the Kurds have been useful partners in the fight against ISIS, but they have also destabilized surrounding governments, to the best of their ability, and Leftist Democrats and “Conservative” Republicans suggesting Trump is betraying consistent allies is essentially a load of bull. The Kurds regularly taunted and attacked Turkey, making the situation in Syria more tumultuous and they constantly used their ISIS prisoners as leverage against the U.S. by constantly threatening to release ISIS prisoners and their families.

 

Until a few weeks ago, a joint U.S-Turkish effort effected border patrol, demilitarized the Syrian Democratic Forces along the border and the U.S. was attempting to provide Turkey the security guarantees it required. And as of yet, I have not heard why that was not enough for President Erdogan, other than his demand of 6,000 square mile “buffer zone”, within Syria, that Erdogan would control. This shouldn’t be a requirement for repairing Washington’s and Ankara’s relations, but Turkey’s miscalculations in diplomacy with Russia and Iran pushed the issue, since three million Syrian refugees in Turkey have become a political problem; some 115 million more now appear ready to breach the Turkish border under the current Russian-Syrian-Iranian drive to fill the power vacuum that is underway, and this is more than likely why security mechanisms created four months ago were not enough to satisfy Erdogan.

 

If the U.S. had attempted to construct a KRG model in Syria, we might not be here, but we never attempted to build such a construct. It also greatly angered Erdogan that we inverted our relationship through disjointed policy makers on the ground, who forgot the mission was to simply eradicate ISIS, while they started acting as agents for their PKK proxy — only a splinter group of all Kurdistan — and representing the Kurds’ cause to our Turkish ally as if the PKK was representative of all Kurds and worthy of equal footing with the nation state of Turkey.

 

Essentially, we elevated a small splinter terrorist organization of a minority to equal stature of one of the strongest nations in the entire Middle East and a NATO ally, albeit a flawed allied of late. This was one-hundred percent untenable to the Turks.

 

The world is witnessing invading Turkish forces moving to secure and control the area, while Russia and Syria move into areas abandoned by the U.S., now aligned with the Kurds who signed an agreement with Syria on October 13th, and whoever is trapped within the current blockade of the area is in a terrible situation; Turkey’s President Erdogan, an Islamist and aspiring caliph, will not discriminate between PKK and the rest of the population, that was supposed to have been given five days to evacuate the area, so Turkey can control a twenty mile deep and three hundred mile long “buffer zone” within Syria, even though some of the five million Kurds in the area have lived there for a century or more.

 

Fighting was ongoing between various militia’s and the Turks on October 17th despite the “cease fire”, and air and artillery strikes continued to hit the Kurdish fighters, civilian settlements and a hospital in the border town of Ras al-Ayn, in northeastern Syria.

 

In recent days, Sinam Mohamad, U.S. Representative for the Syrian Democratic Council, offered an impassioned statement and observation: “The Syrian situation is not only with the PKK.  What’s going on in Syria is not related to PKK. It’s the Syrian people, Arabs, Kurds. In this region, we have five million people living there. They are not all PKK — they are not (all) Kurds. They are Arabs. Do you think these Arabs are accepting to be a puppet in the Kurds hands? … So who is the alternative here? (The Turkish soldiers) who came to the region killing (civilians) after arresting them as it happened to (the secretary general of Future Syria Party) Hevrin Khalaf? So this is the alternative?”

 

On October 12th 2019, Hevrin Khalaf, the secretary general of Future Syria Party, was murdered by the Turkish backed Ahar al-Sharqiya fighters near the M4 Motorway in northern Syria, during the Turkish military operation against Syrian Democratic Forces and its YPG militia in Rojava, largely led by Kurds.

 

To be fair, President Trump had been telling his advisors for months to get this withdrawal planned out and prepared for implementation, since he was adamant about keeping his promise to “end forever wars”, and even Erdogan, as evil a man as he is, showed restraint over the past months, as he continuously warned he wouldn’t tolerate a PKK base of operations in northern Syria, that had the capability of being used against Turkey, at a later date, in a continuation of the Kurds century old fight to create a united Kurdistan, of 30 million Kurds, taking regions of Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria.

 

However, modern day Turkey under Erdogan is no longer the secular Turkey that it was, when it joined NATO. Erdogan has facilitated the return of Islamic fundamentalism, even to the point of allowing ISIS to operate from Turkey, when the U.S. fought ISIS in Iraq, and buying black-market oil from ISIS, essentially funding their continued war in the region. He murders his opposition, he has gone around embargoes and sanctions facilitating Iran’s nuclear program, he has purchased the S-400 from Russia, and his security people actually beat opposition protesters during one visit to D.C.

 

This is not a good ally. This is not a regime the United States should be aiding, and America damned sure shouldn’t be facilitating the extraterritorial aggression of Turkey either in Iraq or Syria.

 

Americans must always ask the important questions. Why are we in Syria and what’s the benefit and the U.S. interests in Syria? Please recall, the only mandate there was to address ISIS, not to aid the Kurds in their fight against Turkey or create a Kurdish state.

 

Many in U.S. leadership positions, such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, are uncomfortable leaving the fate of the area and the continued fight against ISIS in the hands of Russia, Syria and Turkey, since the Kurds have had to shift to focus from the prisons housing thousands of ISIS fighters — with approximately 1000 already having escaped — to defending the entire area against Turkish soldiers who will not hesitate to kill them on the spot, as Erdogan has already made clear, by way of his statement that he would “crush their [PKK] heads”. Through a phone call and a tweet, President Trump essentially set this all in motion and gave Erdogan the green light to invade, so Trump is apparently comfortable leaving the region to America’s enemies, Russia and Syria.

 

On October 13th 2019, President Trump spoke in a laissez-faire manner, stating: “The Kurds and Turkey have been fighting for many years. Others may want to come in and fight for one side or the other. Let them!”

 

The only winners here for the moment are ISIS and Russia with a side benefit for Iran.

 

President Trump should have at least forced Erdogan to give the U.S. something in return. The U.S. received no concessions. This is what America gets when Her president operates by the seat of his pants on a wing and a prayer.

 

On a humanitarian level, the world is looking at approximately a third of Syria cast into chaos once more, while nearly half of Syria’s entire population is already internally or externally displaced, with millions having migrated to Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan and elsewhere. And yes, some affiliate themselves with pro-Syrian defense forces, even though their ranks cut across all ethnic lines and walks of life, filled with Christians, Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen and tribes that have followed their tribal leaders into so very much a tribal geopolitical fight. These people are being slaughtered, while living under already absolutely horrific circumstances; missing is the up-close and intimate coverage of the substantial numbers of women and children who are literally dying of malnutrition, and with the approach of winter, many thousands will freeze to death; and, in more acts against humanity, the YPG, Turkish proxies, remnants of ISIS, Al Nusra and others still use these civilians, women and children in particular, as shields and political victims for their fight: And this must be stopped regardless of what the United States does.

 

With that said, there was a lack of any long term strategic purpose and logical policy for keeping U.S. forces in Northern Syria. Surely no one could seriously expect us to keep a thousand soldiers, or more with mission creep, in country for the next fifty or seventy-five years — Could they?

 

Despite President Trump’s assertion that this was a move to keep his promise to “end forever wars”, a U.S. presence is currently still deployed in eastern Syria along the border with Jordan. Those 700 soldiers being removed from the north are simply being redeployed in western Iraq and joining 2000 more in Saudi Arabia where they will act as a contingent deterrence to Iran’s continued expansion, across the Middle East. So, as everyone can see, this isn’t really a “withdrawal”, as 300 Special Forces troops will remain in the southern Syrian outpost of Al-Tanf, to fight an ISIS resurgence, and America still isn’t ending Her forever wars.

 

Had this been a true professionally conducted withdrawal, rather than this fiasco, and President Trump not spoken out of both sides of his mouth and spoken frankly to the American people, many might not now be faulting him, even though pulling back for Erdogan’s march into Syria was an unnecessary move that removed one more tool to fight Iran’s aggressive expansion, that now has forced every group and nation that has an implied or an actual treaty guarantee that the U.S. will fight on its behalf to take a second look at its arrangements. The American public no longer has the will to fight the Long War in Syria or anywhere else, at a time when Congress is moving to continue operations in Syria as a firewall against Islamic terrorism, and in the meantime, President Trump will rightly take criticism over his handling of Syria and the shuffling of troops. And at a time he should have been reconciling U.S. national security interests to proper strategies through the constitutionally mandated process, Trump has instead decided to let this fire consume what it will and burn itself out.

Israel Looks to Self-Preservation

Yesterday I receive an email from Ari Bussel sharing an Israel GPO News Update about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a graduation ceremony of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers.

In that address Netanyahu talks about military/terrorist threats from Hamas in Gaza to the south and Iran building threatening military capabilities toward the north in Syria. Here is that relatively short news release from the Israel GPO:

In America you probably have no clue to what Prime Minister Netanyahu was talking about thanks to the lack of reporting by the Mainstream Media (MSM). OR if they do report, it is some disinformation blaming Israel for violence on the Gaza-Israel border or perhaps an idiotic accusation that Israel is attacking Iranian military assets in Syria especially near Syrian/Israeli border. Even after continued Islamic terrorist attacks by Hamas and affiliates against Israeli civilians originating from Gaza, the UN condemns Israel for reprisals.

Terrorist factions in the Gaza Strip, including Hamas and the Islamic Jihad warned Wednesday that Israeli airstrikes on the Strip will be met with rocket fire from Gaza.

 

In a statement released to the media, the factions took responsibility for the barrage of rockets fired at Israel on Tuesday night, which they said was a “response to Israel’s continuous aggression against Gaza,” adding that “the enemy’s leadership will bear full responsibility for its aggression and will pay a price for its arrogance.”

 

Hamas’ Spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum blamed Israel for the current escalation but also added that Hamas is not interested in war.

 

“It (Hamas) will always be ready to carry out its national duty of protecting the Palestinian people,” Barhoum said.

 

Earlier Wednesday, the IAF struck 25 Hamas targets in the Strip in response to ongoing cross-border arson and rocket attacks at civilian communities.

 

Five missiles hit towns around the Gaza Belt district overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, with at least 13 rockets landing in the Eshkol Regional Council alone. No injuries were reported, but, several buildings and cars were damaged in the attacks.

 

“In response to the rockets fired throughout the night from the Gaza Strip at Israel, IAF fighter jets targeted approximately 25 terror objectives in the Gaza Strip thus far,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement. “The Hamas terror organization targeted Israeli civilians throughout the night with a severe rocket attack and is dragging the Gaza Strip and its civilians down a deteriorating path. Hamas is responsible for everything that transpires in the Gaza Strip and will bear the consequences for deliberately targeting Israeli civilians.”

Shortly, the Syrian state media reported that the government has downed two Israeli missiles near a military base of the capital. Subsequently, another report of Israel attacking targets of the Syrian military on the outskirts of Quneitra in the Golan Heights reverberated across the region. Prior to a week of frequent Israeli strikes, three unnamed US officials stated that Israel is preparing for military action against Iran in Syria, and is seeking US support. In addition, the officials also blamed Israel for the airstrike on a military base in Hamas and Aleppo that killed over 20 military personnel, including Iranians.

 

It seems that Israel has been motivated by the desire to fight sooner rather than later. Israel considers that an attack by Iran, while not imminent, is inevitable, and that delay in attacking would involve greater risk. Usually, this happens, when the balance of military capability is expected to shift in the enemy’s favour, due to the prospects that the opponent will acquire or develop a powerful new offensive or defensive capability. …

 

Israelis firmly believe that Iran as a nuclear emergence state will bring their world to the threshold of the abyss. Probably, this would be the factor for Netanyahu to urge Trump refer to the documents provided by them on the development of Iranian nuclear deal, rather than relying on the reports provided by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). …

 

This led Putin to send Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on an errand to Tehran where he warned Rouhani about the far-reaching consequences of Iranian retribution to an Israeli strike, not least for Russia and Syria. However, before Rouhani could curb IRGC’s manoeuvrability in Syria, IRGC appears to have fallen for Israeli bait and have launched some 20 rockets at their positions in the Golan Heights. This gave Israel a solid ground to retaliate with the largest strike they have carried out in Syria since 1970 while substantiating it as an act of self-defence which is legitimate under international law. The Israeli said, its targets included weapon storage, logistic sites and intelligence centres used by elite Iranian forces in Syria. Additionally, they have also destroyed five Syrian air-defence batteries after coming under heavy fire.

Is Israel heading towards war?

magine the scene: More than 3,000 years ago, the big Philistine army was facing the Israelite army. In the midst of that, a huge giant stepped forward. Goliath was frightening and he was mocking the God of Israel. He was calling out the soldiers who would dare to come and fight him, one on one, winner takes it all.

The Israelite army was petrified. Nobody dared to step up and face this giant, so a few days went by while Goliath mocked the Israelites and mocked their God. All of a sudden, a young redheaded shepherd boy stepped forward only carrying his staff that he used to watch his sheep. He walked toward Goliath, who was cursing and mocking him for coming against him, only with a staff and no armor.

We all know the ending of the story, how David in one shot took out this huge giant with his sling and one small rock, and the Israelites won the battle.

Did you ever stop to wonder why David, without any armor, went up to face this huge giant? I think it was because David had faith in the living God of Israel, and nobody dared to step up and stop this bully who was cursing his God, and because of David’s strong faith, that he simply had to act.

Yes, David was brave and courageous, but he acted because of his faith in God and because somebody was mocking his God and his people. He later became King David. He moved the Jewish capital to Jerusalem and fought many wars bringing great victories to Israel!

Today the Jewish nation is still facing giants who are mocking the God of Israel and want to wipe out the Jews and the Israeli army.

The little underdog, Israel is now a thriving nation with the best military in the world, but is still surrounded by Goliaths who have only one goal, and that is to wipe out the Jewish state.

Iran is moving deep into Syria. New satellite images show evidence of a new Iranian military facility at Jabal Ash Sharqi, some 12 kilometers northwest of Damascus. They show two recently constructed hangars that are similar in appearance to Iranian bases in Syria. Reports are saying the new base is operated by Iran’s Quds Force, a branch of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responsible for operations in foreign countries. When the Iranians say they want to eradicate Israel, you better believe them!

The prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has clearly stated that ”Israel will not allow Iran to set up these military bases in Syria, which makes Israel sittings ducks.” These bases are only 50 km away from the Golan Heights.

Israel has attacked Iranian targets in Syria before and Israel will strike this new military base in Syria. She has no other choice than to defend herself. Chances are big that this could lead to a short and bloody war — a war the IDF is preparing for right now, and it is even saying it has to take out some of the leaders, but there is not really any alternative when your enemies are closing in on you.

King David went into war when it was needed to protect his people, that is exactly what Israel will have to do at this present time.

As I am writing this blog, Benjamin Netanyahu is slated to meet with US President Donald Trump within a few days in America.

There is no question these two world leaders are going to be discussing the deal made with Iran, as Trump did extend a waiver on nuclear sanctions that were imposed on Iran, but he also said it would be the last time he will do so. Trump also ordered allies in Europe and the US congress to work with him to fix “the disastrous flaws” in the 2015 deal or America would pull out. That will only make the situation worse with Iran, but it will be the right thing to do. Bibi and Trump will of course also speak about the whole situation in Syria, and that Israel has no choice but to defend herself.

Pray for wisdom that they will do what is right, and that they will do what is absolutely necessary to protect Israel against not only the mighty aggressor Iran, but also Syria, Hezbollah, Lebanon, Turkey and Russia.  Israel will not be facing only one enemy or nation, it will be several nations that will come against this tiny nation as we have seen before.

Lets not forget the thousands of rockets and missiles that Hezbollah has in Lebanon pointing toward Israel.

Israel is in the palm of God’s Hands. He has been faithful to His own nation and people. He will always be that but it’s not enough to just say “God is in control.”

War means that young Jewish men and women are going to go into battle, it is horrifying!  It means that there would be many casualties and Jewish families will have to say goodbye to loved ones, lots of tears and funerals again.

When Israel will have to do this, you can bet that the entire Arab world will accuse Israel and the mainstream media will again turn on Israel and accuse her of being the aggressor. So it’s crucial that  Christians around the world wake up and get into the fight for the Land Of The Bible, and stand united in prayers, words, deeds and actions. It is important that your priests and pastors are calling to prayer and you have huge pro-Israel rallies around the world, so Israel will know she is not alone.

When Israel’s enemies are taking on The Holy Land and Her people, they are taking on God as well. Israel and God are united. This is His Nation and His people. As Christians, we cannot say it has nothing to do with us. It has everything to do with us and our faith!! ​(Please feel free to share this blog with your pastors and leadership around the world)

We are living in interesting times, and as we are celebrating Purim and that Haman didn’t succeed in wiping out the Jewish people, nor will Iran or any other enemy of Israel succeed in taking out the Jews!

Back in 1992, the New York Times wrote, “Becoming second to Saudi Arabia as a world oil power, IRAN EXPECTS TO FURTHER ITS GREATER AMBITION OF BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT REGIONAL POWER IN THE PERSIAN GULF, A LONG-HELD FOREIGN-POLICY OBJECTIVE” (NOV. 7, 1992).

The article examined how Iran planned to achieve this objective: More troubling to other countries in the area and to the west is the other side of Iran’s plan to achieve this objective: A HUGE REARMAMENT PROGRAM, financed largely by the New oil money.

“The Islamic Affairs Analyst of Gloucester, England, printed an article in August 1994 that said, ‘Iran is pursuing a parallel policy of surrounding Israel with implacable enemies. Turkey is moving closer to Iran. To Israel’s North, IRAN has deluged Hezbollah in Lebanon with money and weapons. With Hamas in control of Gaza, Tehran could ignite another conflict on Israel’s western and northern borders at any moment. Iran is also’ opening another front in the West Bank, which crawls with zealots sympathetic to if not in the pay of Iran. And Egypt, since the ouster of President Mubarak, is moving rapidly toward discarding its peace treaty with Israel as it moves into Iran’s camp.’” [Found at the Trumpet]

Of course, the Shiites controls Iran and are a majority 60 percent in Iraq. The U.S.’s removal of Saddam Hussein in 2003 opened the way for Iran to heavily infiltrate Iraq, providing armaments, financing and training to Shiites militias, sending thousands of operatives into the country and establishing economic ties with it. Moreover, the most powerful political party in Iraq is allied with Tehran. This could be a decisive factor causing Iraq to fall under Iran’s control.

“That 1994 Islamic Affairs Analyst article said further, starting at the foot of the Red Sea, ‘IRAN is set to increase its influence considerably in both Somalia and Yemen. … Further up the Red Sea coast, Sudan is already firmly in pro-Iranian hands with [Omar Hassan] al-Bashir’s military regime no more than a front for Hassan al-Bashir’s Islamists. And it is from bases in Sudan that Islamist fundamentalists are beginning to undermine the stability of the newly independent Eritrea, which, it should be noted, now controls all of what was formerly Ethiopia’s Red Sea coastline.’” [ibid.]

These trends continue today. Iran has continued to send arms shipments to Islamists in Somalia. In March 2008, Iran signed a military agreement with Sudan. In May 2008, it further boosted its ties with Eritrea, signing trade and investment agreements. Again, the following year, in April 2009, IRAN and Eritrea, together with Algeria, agreed to expand their bilateral cooperation. Iran has a frightening influence and control in North Africa, which greatly intensified with the unrest that began erupting in Arab states in early 2011. The Tunisian government fell in January into the hands of the radical Muslims. The Ennahda party, the Islamist party banned under the dictatorship of Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, quickly emerged as probably the most powerful political force in the country. In October 2011, the Islamists party won the nation’s first free elections since independence in 1956. That is almost exactly what happened in Egypt when its first-ever free elections ushered in the Muslim Brotherhood in 2012. However, it didn’t take long before discontent surged against the hard-liner Ennahda. Assassinations of two prominent opposition figures in 2013 threatened another revolution in Tunisia. It was only averted when rival factions negotiated a peaceful abdication of the elected Islamist government. Tunisia then elected the secular-nationalist Nidaa Tounes Party. Its candidate, Beji Caid Essebsi, became president. Essebsi, however, is a former official of the ousted Ben Ali regime. He has come under fire for Tunisia’s failing economy and for terrorist attacks that have crippled Tunisia’s tourism industry. Again, it is a scenario not much different from Egypt’s.

Iran has also heavily infiltrated Yemen and Bahrain, and it is deeply entrenched in Afghanistan. Many moderate Arab nations fear, and are afraid to offend, IRAN.

Here is what the Islamic Affairs Analyst of May 13, 1992, said: “The main strategic aim of Iran is to dominate the Persian Gulf and environs. An important step in achieving this goal is to GAIN UNDISPUTED LEADERSHIP OF THE RADICAL ISLAMIC CAMP.” Many of the good intelligence reports about Iran have proven true. Do we see just how powerful Iran is becoming militarily? Prof. Barry Rubin wrote in 2007, “IRAN tries to extend its influence in THREE ways: propaganda and incitement; the promotion of client groups, and projecting the state’s own power. Today, IRAN sponsors radical Islamist groups in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and among in Palestinians as well as in other countries. Its two most important clients are Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Palestinian Hamas group (Global Politician, July 25, 2007).” [the Trumpet]

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has put together a map showing how the Russian military is targeting civilians in Putin’s effort to support Iranian client dictator Bashar al-Assad to remain in power in Syria.

 

Take notice of the regimes in full military cooperation to keep al-Assad in power: Russia, Iran and incredulously NATO-member Turkey.

 

Russia officially may not be a Communist nation, but an old Communist former-Soviet Union KGB officer runs Russia in Vladimir Putin. Ever since the October 1917 Lenin led Communist revolution overthrew and assassinated the Russian Czar and the entire royal family, Russia has been no friend of the USA.

 

Iran ceased being an American friend after crazy Khomeini kicked out the Shah, killing royal loyalists, killing fellow anti-Shah revolutionaries, including Western-minded Iranian civilians, and allow Khomeini activists to overrun the U.S. Embassy in Tehran holding American Embassy staff under torturous conditions for 444 days.

 

Turkey became an essential Cold War ally of the U.S. because the Communist Soviet Union was an actual threat to the Turkish Republic. Hence, Turkey became a member of NATO in Europe’s goal to be protected from Russian Communist imperialism which at the time made Eastern Europe Communist vassals. What changed with Turkey?

 

One – Russia became less a Communist global exporter and more a nationalist power broker. Two – Turkey under Erdogan’s leadership, has experienced a revival of Islamic originalism. Meaning Turkey is on a path to be a Sunni radical Islamic propagator as much as Iran is a radical Shia Islamic propagator. The only redeeming factor Turkey-Iran is eventually the age-old Sunni-Shia rivalry will eventually click in. Until Sunni-Shia mutual hatred diverts Turkey and Iran, Russia, Iran and Turkey have one mutual interest of taking down American power. Eventually all three will turn on each other, but until then American National Interests will face a tough road of uneasy speculative choices.

Russia renewed its violent, indiscriminate air campaign against civilians in Western Syria in order to coerce groups opposed to the Bashar al-Assad regime to accept a ceasefire or ‘de-escalation zone’ in Idlib Province. Russia shifted its air campaign to target rebel-held terrain in Idlib and Hama Provinces following an offensive launched by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) – the successor of Syrian al Qaeda affiliate Jabhat Fatah al-Sham – in Northern Hama Province on September 19. The Russian Ministry of Defense launched an immediate disinformation operation to present this shift in its air campaign as a legitimate series of strikes against extremist groups attempting to disrupt a ‘de-escalation zone’ in Idlib Province brokered by Russia, Turkey, and Iran on September 15. Russia nonetheless mounted a systematic campaign of airstrikes against civilian infrastructure – including hospitals, schools, power stations, and mosques – as well as former U.S.-backed rebel groups unaffiliated with HTS or al Qaeda. The strikes marked a return to the widespread punitive air campaigns Russia previously directed against opposition-held terrain across Western Syria. Russia also employed advanced weapons systems to further inflict violence against Idlib Province under the guise of counter-terrorism operations. The Russian Black Sea Fleet’s Permanent Mediterranean Task Force launched Kalibr cruise missiles targeting Ma’arat al-Numan in Southern Idlib Province on September 22. Russia Tu-95MS ‘Bear’ strategic bombers later launched Kh-101 cruise missiles targeting the outskirts of Idlib City on September 26. Russia’s deliberate use of violence against civilians precludes any legitimate, Russian-enforced ‘de-escalation’ zone in Idlib Province.

 

Russia also leveraged its ongoing air campaign to co-opt Turkey away from the U.S. and NATO in order to further set conditions for the planned ‘de-escalation zone’ in Idlib. Russia concentrated its airstrikes in areas of Western Idlib Province along the Syrian-Turkish Border from September 25 – 30. The Russian Air Force likely sought to interdict the movement of HTS and opposition forces ahead of a Turkish Armed Force (TSK) deployment into Idlib by targeting rebel-held areas connecting Western Aleppo Province to the Bab al-Hawa Border Crossing on the Syrian-Turkish Border as well as key supply routes around Idlib City. Turkish President Recep Erdogan subsequently announced the start of cross-border operations to implement the Idlib ‘de-escalation zone’ on October 7. Erdogan stated that Russia would support his intervention. The TSK began deployments to observation positions in Northern Idlib Province near the majority-Kurdish Afrin Canton on October 12 following earlier reconnaissance missions. Russia likely perceives an opportunity to exploit widening diplomatic fissures between the U.S. and Turkey. Russia could thus attempt to use the ‘de-escalation zone’ to compel Turkey into deeper – albeit temporary – cooperation with Russia in Northwestern Syria at the expense of the United States.

Prominent Neocons got caught passing classified info to Israel pertaining to the USA’s plans toward Iran’s nuclear program under the Bush Administration.

I do not find too much to condemn since I am a Christian Zionist as far as motive goes. President Bush took zero action to hamper Iran nuke aspirations in his lame duck year before the end of his second term in Office. And hindsight tells us that President Obama did nothing either other than a fake deal that enabled Iran to weaponize nukes after a period of time long after Obama would be gone from the geopolitical scene.

 

The Neocon accused had pure motives yet broke the law and were prosecuted. The accused received light sentences obviously because there was little damage to American National Security. The largest damage was knowing how Bush was going to deal with Iran which was do NOTHING. And Israel still withheld military action against Iran similar to their actions against Saddam Hussein’s nuclear plant at Osirak.

Being a Neocon and a Zionist Jew are not crimes, particularly when the politics is Conservative rather than Marxist. After the Iraq war about 550 metric tons of yellowcake uranium were secretly removed by the U.S. from Iraq and transported to Canada. Most Leftist pundits and fact checkers will tell you that the yellowcake had been sitting around in containers since before 1991 and the 1st Gulf War. Ergo, Saddam Hussein’s massive amount of yellowcake had not been weaponized.

 

The Leftist denial largely came forth because they didn’t want on their face over the anti-Bush slogan: “Bush lied, people died.”

 

Check this out the process to weaponize yellowcake:

 

The power of the atomic nucleus can be harnessed in one of two ways: Fusion, when two hydrogen atoms fuse together, and fission, when the nuclei of larger atoms are split open. Both release tremendous amounts of energy, and both are used in nuclear weapons. In nuclear energy plants, scientists rely on nuclear fission. Plants split open molecules of highly enriched Uranium. Uranium ore is found in the Earth’s crust and mined in Canada, Australia, Niger, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Namibia. In order to get it to become “highly enriched”, it has to be processed, and this is where complicated chemistry and physics come into play. First it’s made into “yellow cake” uranium through a number of chemical reactions, and then it’s centrifuged until the final fuel is at least 5 percent U235 and 95 percent U238. This highly radioactive combination of the two uranium isotopes is extruded into tiny ceramic pellets which are embedded into metal rods.

Here is a simpler example of weaponizing yellowcake:

 

1 Uranium ore The mildly radioactive ore is mined from underground or open cast deposits. Iran has mines at Gchine on the Persian Gulf and at Saghand, in the middle of the country.

 

2 Yellowcake When ore comes out of the ground it can be less than 1% uranium oxide. Uranium oxide is leached out of the ore with strong acids or alkaline solutions and dried to ‘yellowcake’, which is more than 80% uranium oxide. Iran has mastered this process.

 

3 Conversion Yellowcake is processed into a gas, uranium hexafluoride. Iran’s conversion plant is at Isfahan.

 

4 Enrichment Uranium hexafluoride can be fed into centrifuges which separate out the most fissile uranium isotope U-235. Low enriched uranium for civilian reactors has a 3%-4% concentration of U-235. ‘Weapons-grade’ uranium is 90% enriched.

 

5 Fuel fabrication The uranium hexafluoride can be converted back to uranium oxide, which is pressed and baked into pellets. The pellets are put in metal rods, which are used in a reactor. Iran has yet to master this stage.

 

6 Reactor The fission of U-235 produces energy which heats water into steam that drives turbines. Iran has a research reactor in Tehran and an industrial-scale one at Bushehr.

 

7 Reprocessing Uranium and plutonium can be removed from the spent fuel, and reused. The plutonium can also be used to make weapons. (Weapons-grade uranium process explained; By Julian Borger; The Guardian; 12/5/10)

 

Saddam Hussein the means to weaponize nukes but appears not the patience for the complicated process to take place. The world can thank Israel for hampering that process. Israel bombed Saddam Hussein’s nuclear plant:

The only way for Saddam Hussein to weaponize his yellowcake is with a little help from a potential ally – hmm … like Russia.

 

Speaking of Russia and Iraq. It was a proven fact that Saddam Hussein has a very active chemical weapons program.

 

Discover The Networks (DTN) has a detailed account of the mystery of Saddam Hussein’s chemical weapons ranging from the exaggerated intelligence reports that inspired President G.W. Bush to invade Iraq through about 2006 when actual chemical weapon cache was located in Iraq. Again, the Left has downplayed chemical weapons discovery as old or defective, but I do not completely buy it. Here are the last few paragraphs of the DTN report:

 

Eventually, Wurmser said, Sunni insurgent groups did gain access to the shells in 2005. “There were to my memory at least two attacks on our soldiers using chemical weapons-rigged shells as [improvised explosive devices]. Fortunately, they were ineffectively weaponized and soldiers were wounded but not killed.”

Wurmser, however, grew more frustrated over time. “After waiting a year—during which we asked that the source of the batches be traced and followed to the location where the shells were being retrieved—we continued to see the trickle, but then discovered nobody was making any effort to track the source to the location of retrieval,” he said. “Instead, we were continuing to try to buy up some of the stuff in the market.”

After the U.S. found thousands of the old chemical-weapons shells, Wurmser and others at one point argued that they had an obligation to declare the stocks of chemical weapons under the Chemical Weapons Convention and destroy them. The United States was, after all, the occupier of Iraq and had assumed the country’s sovereign responsibilities as a signatory to the convention.

At least pertaining to Saddam Hussein’s chemical weapons, I find this Conspiracy Theory very credible:

 

Russian special forces troops moved many of Saddam Hussein’s weapons and related goods out of Iraq and into Syria in the weeks before the March 2003 U.S. military operation, The Washington Times has learned.

 

John A. Shaw, the deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said in an interview that he believes the Russian troops, working with Iraqi intelligence, “almost certainly” removed the high-explosive material that went missing from the Al-Qaqaa facility, south of Baghdad.

 

“The Russians brought in, just before the war got started, a whole series of military units,” Mr. Shaw said. “Their main job was to shred all evidence of any of the contractual arrangements they had with the Iraqis. The others were transportation units.”

 

Mr. Shaw, who was in charge of cataloging the tons of conventional arms provided to Iraq by foreign suppliers, said he recently obtained reliable information on the arms-dispersal program from two European intelligence services that have detailed knowledge of the Russian-Iraqi weapons collaboration.

 

Most of Saddam’s most powerful arms were systematically separated from other arms like mortars, bombs and rockets, and sent to Syria and Lebanon, and possibly to Iran, he said.

 

The Russian involvement in helping disperse Saddam’s weapons, including some 380 tons of RDX and HMX, is still being investigated, Mr. Shaw said.

 

The RDX and HMX, which are used to manufacture high-explosive and nuclear weapons, are probably of Russian origin, he said.

 

Pentagon spokesman Larry DiRita could not be reached for comment.

 

The disappearance of the material was reported in a letter Oct. 10 from the Iraqi government to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

A second defense official said documents on the Russian support to Iraq reveal that Saddam’s government paid the Kremlin for the special forces to provide security for Iraq’s Russian arms and to conduct counterintelligence activities designed to prevent U.S. and Western intelligence services from learning about the arms pipeline through Syria.

 

The Russian arms-removal program was initiated after Yevgeny Primakov, the former Russian intelligence chief, could not persuade Saddam to give in to U.S. and Western demands, this official said.

The Russian weapons were then sent out of the country to Syria, and possibly Lebanon in Russian trucks, Mr. Shaw said.

 

Mr. Shaw said he believes that the withdrawal of Russian-made weapons and explosives from Iraq was part of plan by Saddam to set up a “redoubt” in Syria that could be used as a base for launching pro-Saddam insurgency operations in Iraq.

 

The Russian units were dispatched beginning in January 2003 and by March had destroyed hundreds of pages of documents on Russian arms supplies to Iraq while dispersing arms to Syria, the second official said.

 

Besides their own weapons, the Russians were supplying Saddam with arms made in Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria and other Eastern European nations, he said.

 

“Whatever was not buried was put on lorries and sent to the Syrian border,” the defense official said.

 

Documents reviewed by the official included itineraries of military units involved in the truck shipments to Syria. The materials outlined in the documents included missile components, MiG jet parts, tank parts and chemicals used to make chemical weapons, the official said.

Also, an Arabic-language report obtained by U.S. intelligence disclosed the extent of Russian armaments. The 26-page report was written by Abdul Tawab Mullah al Huwaysh, Saddam’s minister of military industrialization, who was captured by U.S. forces May 2, 2003.

 

The Russian “spetsnaz” or special-operations forces were under the GRU military intelligence service and organized large commercial truck convoys for the weapons removal, the official said.

 

Regarding the explosives, the new Iraqi government reported that 194.7 metric tons of HMX, or high-melting-point explosive, and 141.2 metric tons of RDX, or rapid-detonation explosive, and 5.8 metric tons of PETN, or pentaerythritol tetranitrate, were missing.

 

The material is used in nuclear weapons and also in making military “plastic” high explosive.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s primary objective in Syria is to constrain U.S. freedom of action – not fight ISIS and al Qaeda. Russia’s military deployments at current levels will not enable the Iranian-penetrated Assad regime to secure Syria. Moscow’s deepening footprint in Syria threatens America’s ability to defend its interests across the Middle East and in the Mediterranean Sea. Putin’s Real Syria Agenda

Russia’s intervention in Syria in September 2015 fundamentally altered the balance of the Syrian Civil War.1 Russia re-established momentum behind Syrian President Bashar al Assad and his Iranian allies at a moment when major victories by ISIS and Syrian rebels threatened to force the regime to contract into Syria’s central corridor.2 The capabilities Russia deployed were not limited to the airframes, artillery, and personnel needed to conduct a counter-terrorism or counterinsurgency mission, however. Russia deployed advanced air defense and ballistic missile systems, naval units, air superiority aircraft, and other capabilities in a display of major Russian force projection in the region. Russian President Vladimir Putin is altering the balance of power in Syria and the Eastern Mediterranean through sustained Russian military operations and additional deployments of high-end capabilities.

 

Russian Force Projection

 

Russia ultimately seeks to expand its permanent naval and air bases on the Syrian coast in order to further project force into the Mediterranean and Middle East. Russia’s establishment of an anti-access and area denial (A2/AD) exclusion zone from its bases at Latakia and Tartous allows Russia to create de-facto no fly zones in the Eastern Mediterranean as well as over most of Syria. These A2/AD zones constrain U.S. freedom of movement and ultimately raise the cost of U.S. involvement in Syria.3 Russia deployed the naval version of the S-300 to protect the airspace over Latakia airbase in Syria in November 2015.4 Russia also deployed the S-400 in late November 2015 shortly after the Turkish downing of a Russian jet.5 Russia has since deployed an additional seven S-300 systems in an effort to build in redundancies, advance the integration of its air defenses, and provide more comprehensive coverage.6 The S-300 and S-400 systems are road mobile and interoperable, increasing the difficulty of neutralizing the systems. Putin wants to challenge the U.S. and its allies by increasing Russian military and political influence in the Middle East. Russia has rotated a wide range of naval vessels to participate in the conflict in order to demonstrate the capabilities of these units and Russia’s willingness to deploy them in the Mediterranean. Russia has deployed some of its most advanced non-nuclear naval capabilities to the Eastern Mediterranean.7 Russian subsurface and surface vessels successfully engaged ground targets in Syria after launching Kalibr cruise missiles from the Mediterranean and Caspian Seas.8 Russia has shown it can undertake precision strikes with the nuclear-capable Kalibr cruise missile at significant distance.

 

Russia also maintains anti-ship capabilities in the Mediterranean, including the Bastion-P coastal defense system. Russia demonstrated the land attack capabilities of the Bastion in November 2016.9 Russia has also deployed battle cruisers that bring advanced anti-ship and air defense capabilities off the Syrian coast. Russia’s deployment of its much-ridiculed aircraft carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov nevertheless showcased its force projection capabilities and intent to exhibit its naval presence in the Mediterranean.10 [See Appendix II]

 

Putin has deployed air defense and anti-ship systems to Syria in order to threaten the United States. Russia does not need these systems to support the counter-terrorism campaign it claims it is waging against anti-Assad opposition groups in Syria. Those groups do not operate aircraft or naval vessels. Russia also deployed the nuclear capable SS-26 ‘Iskander’ ballistic missiles to Syria and used the systems to attack opposition held terrain.11 The Iskander missiles provide no meaningful additional advantage against the opposition. The only conceivable target for these advanced systems is the U.S. and its allies. [See Appendix III]

 

Constrain U.S. Freedom of Action

 

Russia has used its deployment to constrain U.S. freedom of action and limit American policy options in Syria. Russia deployed the S-300 and S-400 air defense systems to deter the U.S. from direct military action against the Assad regime through the unilateral establishment of a no-fly zone. Russia has also forward deployed assets beyond its air and naval bases on the coast in order to further complicate the personnel are primarily concentrated in Latakia, Aleppo, and Tartous Provinces, but are also active in Hama, Homs, Damascus, and Hasakah and include a wide range of units including air assault, tank, medical, naval infantry, and special operations forces. [See Appendix IV]

 

Russia has intentionally removed potential U.S. partners within the armed opposition from the battlefield in Syria. Russian airstrikes from October 2015 to March 2017 have primarily targeted the mainstream Syrian opposition – not ISIS – in order to ensure the opposition’s defeat through its submission, destruction, or transformation. The Russian air campaign has driven what remains of the mainstream opposition closer to Salafi-jihadi groups, which are stronger and better able to defend against intensified pro-regime military operations. Russia is also exacerbating radicalization through its deliberate, illegal targeting of civilians. Russia has consistently targeted hospitals, schools, and other critical civilian infrastructure throughout the sixteen months of its air campaign.

 

Russian Testing Grounds

 

Russia has also used sustained use of transport aircraft in Syria to exercise the Russian military’s overall combat readiness and force projection capabilities. Expeditionary logistics and force projection is difficult for militaries to exercise, in general. Russia is exercising expeditionary logistics by air and sea in Syria.13 Russia is refining its ability to deploy its military personnel and equipment rapidly at a large scale in order to message its ability to threaten the U.S. and its NATO and European allies. Russia announced its intent to prioritize the development of naval equipment for troop transport on March 8 in order to increase the Russian Navy’s ability to provide logistical support in Syria and in other coastal zones.14 Russia also re-supplies and provides combat support for prospect of direct U.S. strikes against the Syrian regime for fear of inadvertently hitting Russian troops. Sources estimated that Russia maintains between 1,500 and 4,000 military personnel in Syria.12 These forces in Syria through frequent deliveries from Russian Il-76 and An-124 transport aircraft. As of October 2016, these transport aircraft were making multiple trips to Syria each month and it is likely that these aircraft continue to make regular trips to Syria. [See Appendix V]

 

Limitations of Russian Capabilities

 

Putin faces a number of economic and military constraints that limit the resources Russia can bring to bear in Syria. Russia’s economic crisis has forced Russia to balance limited resources across key theaters like Ukraine, the Baltics, the Middle East, and domestically in Russia. Putin has opted to pursue multiple, mutually reinforcing lines of effort using a diverse set of naval, air, missile, and ground capabilities in Syria. The overlap allows Russia to extract significant benefits with minimal cost. The Russian military has demonstrated its many shortcomings during its deployment to Syria, including frequent friendly fire incidents, losses of Russian aircraft, a poor performance by Russia’s aging aircraft carrier the Admiral Kuznetsov, and reports of mechanical failure of Russian equipment.15

 

The Russian deployment, at current levels, will be insufficient to grant Assad victory over the opposition, al Qaeda, or ISIS. Russia, Iran, and the regime have been unable to sustain significant simultaneous operations against ISIS and the Syrian opposition, despite Russia’s considerable airframe deployments. Russian airframes were unable to prevent ISIS’s recapture of Palmyra in December 2016 alongside a final pro-regime push to defeat the opposition in Aleppo, for example.16 Russia has instead used ‘cessation of hostilities’ agreements to drawdown its airstrikes against the opposition and surge its air campaign against ISIS for limited periods of time.17 Salafi-Jihadi groups have meanwhile begun to consolidate the opposition under more effective command-and-control structures, increasing rebels’ capabilities and resiliency.18 This dynamic will not only lead to a protracted and bloody civil war for the foreseeable future, but it ultimately raises the requirements for the U.S. to deal with the conflict.

 

Implications

 

Russia is both an unacceptable and ineffective partner against jihadists in Syria. The Russian deployment is inconsistent with Putin’s narrative that Russia intervened in Syria in order to combat terrorists. Many of its capabilities have no utility in the anti-ISIS fight. Putin instead seeks to use Russia’s deployment to subordinate U.S. military action and policies to Russian objectives in Syria. Russia’s aggressive deployment to Syria intends to deter the U.S. from intervening for fear of incurring significant costs. Russia has largely pursued its objectives in Syria with impunity. It has deprived the U.S. of freedom of maneuver, disrupted U.S. partnerships with key allies in the region, and facilitated Russia’s emergence as a geopolitical force in the region. Any potential partnership with Russia in Syria will further strengthen jihadists and force the U.S. to capitulate to a Russian vision for the broader Middle East that endangers America’s security interests.

Is Facebook really a CIA-funded data collection program?

We already know that the NSA snoops through our email, as well as our phone records and calls. And it was recently revealed that the CIA created a “Cuban Twitter” to encourage insurrection.

 

It was called ZunZuneo, and it was offered to Cubans via the country’s mobile-phone network as a free text service. The program attracted 40,000 subscribers before mysteriously ending operations in 2012.

The (Social) Network

 

The Facebook-CIA connection revolves around James Breyer, a partner at the investment firm ACCEL.

 

Accel was one of Facebook’s early investors, plunking down $12.7 million in 2005. That dwarfed the initial venture capital investment of $500,000 from Peter Thiel. In fact, Accel was Facebook’s biggest shareholder after Mark Zuckerberg at the time of the company’s IPO, with an 11% stake.

 

And as it happens, Breyer, the guy who made it happen, has some very close ties with the U.S. government.

 

You see, in addition to his role at Accel, Breyer sat on the board of directors at BBN – a defense contractor that helped create the internet. And in 2004, he was joined there by Gilman Louie, the CEO of In-Q-Tel – an technology investment firm that was founded by the CIA.

 

Indeed, the CIA launched In-Q-Tel in 1999, with a focus on data mining, and Louie was put in charge.

 

And that’s not all.

 

Also on BBN’s board was Dr. Anita Jones.

 

Jones, also a member of the In-Q-Tel board, was formerly the director of Defence Research and Engineering for the U.S. Department of Defence. At the DoD, Jones reported directly to the Secretary of Defence and oversaw the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

 

DARPA, of course, is responsible for the development of new technologies the military. It also houses one of the most insidious branches of government bureaucracy, the Information Awareness Office.

 

The IAO was established in 2002 to bring together several DARPA projects that use surveillance and information technology to track and monitor “terrorists.” The goal of these endeavors is “Total Information Awareness (TIA).”

 

TIA means creating enormous computer databases to gather and store the personal information of everyone in the United States, including personal emails, social networks, credit card records, phone calls, medical records, and numerous other sources, without any requirement for a search warrant.

Former Israeli intelligence agent Ari ben-Menashe published a book called ‘Profits of War’ in 1992 that caused a worldwide sensation, because it described for the first time a plan by Israeli spy agency Mossad to create a computer programme capable of monitoring individuals and working out who their circle of friends were. That programme was called PROMIS, and it was picked up not just by Mossad but also the CIA and the NSA in the US.

Information, said ben-Menashe, might include phone records that showed who the target associated with, or locations that he regularly visited. “The programme…would have the ability to track the movements of vast numbers of people around the world. Dissidents or citizens who needed to be kept under watch would be hard put to move freely again without Big Brother keeping an eye on their activities.”

 

That was 1992. When the whistle was blown the intelligence agencies ran for cover, and organisations in New Zealand and elsewhere who had purchased PROMIS ditched it. But the dream of tracking social networks via computer did not go away. Imagine the fun to be had if people voluntarily waived their rights to privacy and uploaded their personal information and friendships online for everyone to see.

 

In 1998, the CIA ostensibly gave up the fight to lead the world in IT intelligence software.

Instead of developing software, the CIA set up a company called In-Q-Tel in 1999 to go into venture partnerships with private capital firms to develop and fund promising new technologies that could help the CIA “data mine” for useful intelligence.

The CIA’s website makes In-Q-Tel’s mission clear:

 

“In-Q-Tel’s mission is to foster the development of new and emerging information technologies and pursue research and development (R&D) that produce solutions to some of the most difficult IT problems facing the CIA. To accomplish this, the Corporation will network extensively with those in industry, the venture capital community, academia, and any others who are at the forefront of IT innovation.”

 

The first CEO of In-Q-Tel was Gilman Louie, and he and his CIA subsidiary were appointed with seven others to the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association of America in 2004. The chairman of the NVCA was James Breyer of Accel Partners, and one of his first tasks that year was to give a young student named Mark Zuckerberg US$13 million in venture capital. What for? Well, in February 2004, Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook, a new social networking service designed to help fellow students stay in touch with each other.

 

James Breyer was also chairman of BBN, a Silicon Valley company whose Arpanet technology had helped kick off the internet with the assistance of the US Defence agencies. Joining Breyer at BBN in 2004 were both In-Q-Tel’s Gilman Louie and Dr. Anita Jones, a colleague of Gilman Louie’s at In-Q-Tel, and a former advisor to DARPA, or the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency.

 

In Facebook terms, these CIA and US Defence Department types were just one degree of separation from Facebook itself, and their chairman James Breyer was one of the initial bankrollers of Facebook.

 

One of DARPA’s projects was “scalable social network analysis”, or SSNA, which researcher Sean McGahan described this way: “The purpose of the SSNA algorithms program is to extend techniques of social network analysis to assist with distinguishing potential terrorist cells from legitimate groups of people … In order to be successful SSNA will require information on the social interactions of the majority of people around the globe. It’s been a rough couple days for The Washington Post. Word emerged that hackers invaded its internal system—for a few days, no less—all of its staffers had to change their passwords as the company tried to figure out how much data had been compromised.

 

Meanwhile, a petition campaign was launched related to news that Amazon, under the Post’s new owner, Jeff Bezos, recently secured a $600 million contract from the CIA. That’s at least twice what Bezos paid for the Post this year. Catch the flavor of the wording. It emerges like swamp gas:

 

“The Legislature finds and declares that all children and youth, regardless of gender, class, race, ethnicity, national origin, culture, religion, immigration status, sexual orientation, or ability, have inherent rights that entitle them to protection, special care, and assistance, including, but not limited to, the following: The right to parents, guardians, or caregivers who act in their best interest. The right to form healthy attachments with adults responsible for their care and well-being. The right to live in a safe and healthy environment. The right to social and emotional well-being. This bill is basically setting up the population of California for state regulatory agencies to fill in the blanks later, to make specific controls out of the vague generalities in the bill. Get it?

SB18 is also an invitation to immigrants anywhere in the world who can get to California with their children, or will give birth to children after arriving: “Just be here and we’ll take care of you.”

The CIA’s findings that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency are both “stunning and not surprising,” the next leader of Senate Democrats said, raising the need for Congress to conduct a full investigation.

Schumer (D-N.Y.), issued Saturday morning, was in response to a Washington Post story that intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee to boost Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton’s chances.

 

The CIA shared its latest assessment with key senators in a closed-door briefing on Capitol Hill last week, in which agency officials cited a growing body of intelligence from multiple sources. Agency briefers told the senators it was now “quite clear” that electing Trump was Russia’s goal, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

 

It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on the intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”

The CIA presentation to senators about Russia’s intentions fell short of a formal U.S. assessment produced by all 17 intelligence agencies. A senior U.S. official said there were minor disagreements among intelligence officials about the agency’s assessment, in part because some questions remain unanswered.

 

For example, intelligence agencies do not have specific intelligence showing officials in the Kremlin “directing” the identified individuals to pass the Democratic emails to WikiLeaks, a second senior U.S. official said. Those actors, according to the official, were “one step” removed from the Russian government, rather than government employees. Moscow has in the past used middlemen to participate in sensitive intelligence operations so it has plausible deniability.

On Oct. 7, the intelligence community officially accused Moscow of seeking to interfere in the election through the hacking of “political organizations.” Though the statement never specified which party, it was clear that officials were referring to cyber-intrusions into the computers of the DNC and other Democratic groups and individuals.

 

Some key Republican lawmakers have continued to question the quality of evidence supporting Russian involvement.

 

“I’ll be the first one to come out and point at Russia if there’s clear evidence, but there is no clear evidence — even now,” said Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a member of the Trump transition team. “There’s a lot of innuendo, lots of circumstantial evidence, that’s it.” [Bold text by Editor]

CIA: Washington Post Report Linking Russian Government to Trump & Election Hacking Is “Outright Lie”

 

The Central Intelligence Agency is declaring the Washington Post’s much-hyped story linking the Russian government to hacking the presidential election to help Donald Trump an “outright lie,” according to CIA personnel with direct knowledge of the case.

 

The Washington Post, in a front-page splash on Friday, fingered the CIA for allegedly confirming the wild rumors of Russian hacking that were concocted and spread by Democratic lawmakers for months preceding the election and the weeks since the GOP win. The Washington Post’s story, however, contained no CIA sources and in fact, no credible U.S. intelligence agency sources whatsoever. Instead, it hinged on what unnamed lawmakers had supposedly been told by unidentified, supposed CIA-linked sources in “secret” briefings: That the CIA had developed proof the Russian state waged an orchestrated campaign to destabilize the U.S. election to benefit GOP-candidate Trump.

 

“It’s an outright lie,” a CIA analyst divulged to True Pundit. “There’s nothing definitive like that. There are leads from activity originating in Finland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Britain, France, China and Russia.”

 

Multiple CIA sources are now denouncing the Washington Post for knowingly reporting misleading national security intelligence. Intelligence insiders said no one in the Agency or in the FBI, who is running at least one parallel inquiry, has ruled out a possible internal leak within the Democratic National Committee from actor(s) inside the United States who funneled private DNC emails to Wikileaks.

 

On the rabid Sunday morning political talk show circuit yesterday, fueled by the Washington Post’s thinly-sourced yet highly-lauded reporting, Sen. John McCain implored President Elect Trump to look at the CIA-Russian information which he said was credible. McCain, however, as the Senate Armed Services Committee chairman, had strangely never publicly disseminated such intelligence prior to Sunday. And no other elected officials have stepped up to echo his narrative or that of the Washington Post.

 

CIA and intelligence sources, however, quickly countered McCain’s claims as speculative at best, saying his information is simply not accurate and he, as the Arizona senator has done previously, was grandstanding for the media without knowing key facts.

 

“If he (McCain) in fact is being told that information, it is bad information,” a CIA source said, pondering whether McCain had perhaps been briefed by outgoing CIA Director John Brennan or his loyal Agency underlings. Multiple sources said Brennan and his inner circle in the Agency could not be trusted to disseminate any true intelligence, especially in their final days on the job, without tainting raw data with political ideologies that parallel their White House boss.

House Quietly Passes Bill Targeting “Russian Propaganda” Websites

On November 30, one week after the Washington Post launched its witch hunt against “Russian propaganda fake news“, with 390 votes for, the House quietly passed “H.R. 6393, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017“, sponsored by California Republican Devin Nunes (whose third largest donor in 2016 is Google parent Alphabet, Inc), a bill which deals with a number of intelligence-related issues, including Russian propaganda, or what the government calls propaganda, and hints at a potential crackdown on “offenders.”

 

A quick skim of the bill reveals “Title V—Matters relating to foreign countries”, whose Section 501 calls for the government to “counter active measures by Russia to exert covert influence … carried out in coordination with, or at the behest of, political leaders or the security services of the Russian Federation and the role of the Russian Federation has been hidden or not acknowledged publicly.”

 

  • The section lists the following definitions of media manipulation:

 

  • Establishment or funding of a front group.

 

  • Covert broadcasting.

 

  • Media manipulation.

 

  • Disinformation and forgeries.

 

  • Funding agents of influence.

 

  • Incitement and offensive counterintelligence.

 

 

  • Terrorist acts.

 

As ActivistPost correctly notes, it is easy to see how this law, if passed by the Senate and signed by the president, could be used to target, threaten, or eliminate so-called “fake news” websites, a list which has been used to arbitrarily define any website, or blog, that does not share the mainstream media’s proclivity to serve as the Public Relations arm of a given administration.

 

Curiously, the bill which was passed on November 30, was introduced on November 22, two days before the Washington Post published its Nov. 24 article citing “experts” who claim Russian propaganda helped Donald Trump get elected.

[Blog Editor: Eva Bartlett is supportive of Bashar Assad’s regime in Syria claiming that attacks that have killed Aleppo civilians were perpetrated by Islamic terrorists rather than by the Russian and Syrian regime forces. However, I know that the Bashar Assad (who is a Shi’ite Alawite) has brutalized Sunni Muslims and that most of the power positions in Syria are Alawite (See Also HERE). I know that Syria has closely aligned itself with the Shia Twelver Ayatollahs of Iran. And I know that Russia is supporting the Assad regime and Iran as a counter-balance to American National Interests. This means Assad, Iran, Syrian Rebels & Syrian Terrorists, the Shi’ite terrorist of Hezbollah located in Lebanon are extremely anti-Israel Jew-Haters. And since Russia is supportive of these Jew-haters I can only assume Putin would either help or look the other way of yet another Muslim invasion or war with Israel to kill every single Jew living in the Land of Jewish Heritage. Sadly, I have no doubt that if Sunni Moderates (so-called) Sunni Terrorists fighting Assad’s regime would take up the Jew-hating mantle so insidious in the Muslim world. After I got over the fact my GOP fav for President in Ted Cruz lost to now President-Elect Trump, I decided to find out what I could like about him. There are actually stands I am comfortable with, but this one gravitates toward the top of the list. That is to at least recognize the radical elements of Islam are not compatible to our Constitution and our American values. Trump’s thoughts on Islam hence includes vetting Muslim immigrants or Muslim refugees that might intend to come to America for nefarious reasons.

 

On a Christian level, I am quite displeased that Islamic sacred writings single out Jews and Christians as people to force submission to Islam or die as well as completely denying the central tenet that makes one a Christian; viz., denying that Jesus is the Son of God, Crucified to death and arose to life from death and ascended to sit at the right hand of the Father. In Islam that belief is blasphemous worthy of death.

Donald Trump, president elect of the United States, spoke out on the campaign trail against radical Islam. Trump opposed the Obama administration’s pressure on former Egyptian president and U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak to resign. That resignation paved the way for the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood across the Middle East. Expect President Trump to support anti-Islamist regimes in the Arab world and those individuals in America.

 

Trump has also said he would shut down extremist mosques in America, which would be a welcome policy to stop radicalization of America’s Muslims. He will need an expert team of legal experts to accomplish that goal since opposnents [sic] will argue that the line between freedom of speech and religion and incitement to violence is razor thin.

 

Policies to watch once Trump has a perspective from the Oval Office will be his stated opposition to the nuclear agreement with Iran and his opposition to regime change and arming the rebels in Syria.

Domestic Islamists

 

 

  • Would revoke the passports of Americans who travel abroad to join the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL). Initially advocated a temporary ban on all Muslim immigration and has since scaled it back to only Muslim countries with major terrorist activity. In his national security speech in June, he proposed using ideological vetting such as support for extremist beliefs or links to extremist groups (not necessarily terrorists) in deciding who gets to enter the U.S. He cited polls showing high levels of support for Sharia governance in countries like Afghanistan.

 

Egypt & the Muslim Brotherhood

 

  • Opposed the Obama Administration’s pressure on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to give up power.

 

 

Intelligence

 

  • Supports enhanced interrogation of terror suspects (considered torture by critics).

 

Iran

 

 

  • Thanked by the wife of an American pastor imprisoned in Iran for bringing attention to his captivity.

 

  • Endorsed airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear program in 2007.

 

ISIS, Iraq & Syria

 

  • Only candidate to support Russia’s military intervention in Syria against rebels fighting ISIS, as well as ISIS and Al-Qaeda.

 

  • Opposes involvement in the civil war and arming rebels.

 

  • Opposes a policy of regime change towards the Assad dictatorship.

 

  • “I say that you can defeat ISIS by taking their wealth. Take back the oil. Once you go over and take back that oil, they have nothing. You bomb the hell out of them, and then you encircle it, and then you go in. And you let Mobil go in, and you let our great oil companies go in. Once you take that oil, they have nothing left.”

  • S. should take Iraq’s oil and reimburse the countries who were involved in the 2003 invasion and give $1 million to the family of every U.S. soldier who died in Iraq.

 

Libya

 

  • Would only support military action in Libya against the Muammar Gaddafi leadership if the U.S. gets to take the country’s oil.

 

Gulf States

 

  • Would force Saudi Arabia and other countries to pay for the U.S. military presence that protects them.

 

Military Spending

 

  • Would increase military spending to foster deterrence.
