There is a Reason for Evil – Prayer Still Defeats Evil

John R. Houk

You’d think even a godless person that knows right from wrong (to the best extant that is even possible) would concur the massacre in a Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs Texas was a horrific incident that should instill national unity rather than divisive comments from Leftists in Hollywood and the MSM, RIGHT?

AND I am not even speaking about the idiocy of gun control! After all, it was a former NRA gun instructor (Stephen Willeford) – with a gun – that prevented Devin Kelley from more than 26 or 27 (depending who you read) already butchered with bullets – men, women and children.

I am talking about the godless who went public with their thoughts that “prayer” did little for the Christian in Church who were wounded or dead. Instead Leftists demanded gun control would be more effective than prayer to Almighty God. Keep in mind Kelley’s acquisitions of guns happened even though gun laws should have prevented such and gun owner Stephan Willeford more than likely stopped a greater death toll with his gun.

A call for more gun control merely enables crooks gain illegal gun acquisitions while keeping guns out of the hands of responsible people.

Dems negating prayer by increasing ineffective gun control:

Seth Moulton – Dem Rep from Massachusetts:

“We are praying – but prayers won’t fix this or prevent it from happening again. … Let’s also pray that you find the courage to do your job.”

Richard Blumenthal – Dem Senator from Connecticut:

“Horror, heartbreak, shame. Prayers are important but insufficient. After another unspeakable tragedy, Congress must act – or be complicit.”

John Lewis – Dem Rep from Georgia:

“We must do more than mourn and pray for those murdered in Texas. We must act.”

Pramila Jayapal – Dem Rep from Washington State:

“They were praying when it happened. They don’t need our prayers. They need us to address gun violence crisis & pass sensible regulation.”

(Dem Left quotes from– ‘Thoughts and Prayers Are Not Enough.’ Gun Control Advocates Demand Action After Texas Shooting; By Katie Reilly; Time.com; 11/6/17)

Leftist Hollywood

Mia Farrow:

“prayers and thoughts don’t seem to be working. We NEED reasonable gun laws. Do your job” (quote from — Thoughts and Prayers Are Not Enough.’ Gun Control Advocates Demand Action After Texas Shooting; By Katie Reilly; Time.com; 11/6/17)

Wil Wheaton:

“Will Wheaton responded to the deadly shooting at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs on Sunday by tweeting: ‘The murdered victims were in a church. If prayers did anything, they’d still be alive, you worthless sack of s***.’ [The “you” refers to Speaker Ryan] (Wil Wheaton Fire Tweet Lashing Paul Ryan; By CHRIS SPARGO; Daily Mail; 11/6/17 09:13 EST – Updated 14:41 EST)

Leftist MSM

Joy Reid:

“Enough with the “thoughts and prayers already.” The Bible teaches us that faith without works is dead. Do something or say nothing.” (quote from–  ‘Thoughts and Prayers Are Not Enough.’ Gun Control Advocates Demand Action After Texas Shooting; By Katie Reilly; Time.com; 11/6/17)

Don Lemon:

CNN Tonight host Don Lemon went on a nearly-four-minute-long commentary on Monday emphasizing that he’s not “not anti-thoughts and prayers,” but demanded Congress defeat the NRA and pass gun control measures that wouldn’t have stopped Sunday’s Sutherland Springs church shooting.

Lemon read a few tweets from Republicans following the massacre and then mocked them by repeatedly muttering “thoughts and prayers” under this breath. …

From there, Lemon seemed to discount the notion that prayers aren’t always answered in how one expects and that there’s evil in the world when he bemoaned how “thoughts and prayers” didn’t stop the shooter.

“Thoughts and prayers did not stop an oversight from the justice system which enabled a guy who attacked his stepson and assaulted his wife from getting a gun. Thoughts and prayers didn’t stop a troubled person from buying assault-grade weapons that took the lives of 26 people in an instant,” he added.

Lemon could have stopped there …

Of course, that’s not what Lemon did. He continued by claiming that “[t]his is not at all about the Second Amendment or taking guns out of the hands of responsible gun owners.”

“I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment. I’ll say that again. I am firm believer in the Second Amendment.

If you’ve ever read someone going this far to make clear that you’re not for gun control, here’s a spoiler alert of sorts: This means they’re for gun control.

And sure enough, Lemon went on to float the very notion that he just claimed he’s not advocating for:

But think about this. How many guns and of what caliber does one person need? Does a civilian really need an arsenal? Does a civilian really need body armor? Those are good questions that we should all be asking. Maybe you think they should, but we should at least be asking those questions. Those are the questions our leaders should be debating. Our leaders should be leading, not following.

… (Lemon Argues Prayer Didn’t Stop Sutherland Springs, Hints Irrelevant Gun Control Would Have; By Curtis Houck; NewsBusters.org; 11/7/17 5:58 PM EST)

Friends this is only a sample of people discrediting prayer and wanting to end the 2nd Amendment Right to protect oneself with gun control that enables greater power to thugs and less power to YOU.

People still devoted to the faith of the Word of God – Biblical Faith – comprehend why evil functions in this world. The reason begins with the God’s record of the creation of humanity. The very creation mocked by the irreligious Left as a myth.

Genesis presents Creation as a six-day process in which He rested on the seventh (our Saturday). If you are dedicated to Biblical faith you will be part of the theological argument, that God’s Creation was six 24-hour periods. Much to the displeasure of my son, I’m not into the six 24-hour period creation. There are some who discovered verses relating to one-day for God is as 1000-years to we created humans (Psalm 90: 1-4; 2 Peter 3: 8 NKJV).

The 1000 years for me explained that God made a natural order. I still believe the Almighty could have blinked and Shazzam, Creation came to be. On a personal, it is my guess the Shazzam method was not God’s modus operandi in Creation. This is why I interpret the 1000-years=1-day to God probably relates to a concept of a long time rather than a specific measurable time. If that messes with your theology, please forgive me. I am not dogmatic about the theory.

Getting to Creation and humanity. God made man (as in humanity) male and eventually female. Man was made in the image of God which clue you into a general appearance of the Almighty but not a specific rendering. The Creation man was on the sixth creation epoch:

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[a] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1: 26-27, 31 NKJV)

It is important to note and dwell on verse 31: “… God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”

God’s Creation “was” very good. Meaning no sickness, no death, natural disasters, no inherent wickedness on the Earth and so on that would be the opposite of very good. (In Genesis Chapter 2 God reveals the process of male created first then the female. Secular minded scholars will tell you this is another document that was merged in antiquity into our current Bible. I don’t buy scholarly theories that discredit God’s Word.)

What in the world happened between “very good” and evil’s existence in our present age? The explanation is in Genesis Chapter 3. You really should read the whole chapter, but for brevity’s sake, here are the highlights:

And the woman said to the serpent [serpent=Satan=The Devil], “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

[THE DECEPTION]

Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

[Rebelling against God’s Command and becoming a servant of Satan by believing lies]

So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. [Adam were clothed glory, the glory-clothing disappeared in rebellion and were actually naked]

[Not taking responsibility for own actions is the 2nd evidence evil had entered God’s Creation]

11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”

13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”

The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

[Serpent was cursed by being synonymous with Satan and Satan cursed with the foretelling a son born from a woman will someday …]

14 So the Lord God said to the serpent:

“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel
.”

[Female descendants of Eve are cursed]

16 To the woman He said:

“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.”

[Male descendants of Adam are cursed]

17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:

“Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.” (Genesis 3: 2-7, 11-19 NKJV)

In Sunday school you may have learned Adam’s (and descendants) curse was to toil for his family unit to live. In other words, no work means no eat. Probably what you didn’t learn in Sunday school was “Cursed is the ground for your sake”. The “ground” is all that exists on Earth from evil acts of beasts and humanity to horrific natural disasters.

In essence Adam and Eve unwittingly yet willingly separated themselves from God. Thus, Adam and Eve “surely” died by eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Without Jesus, humans are dead people walking. No Redemption from this separation means the Second Death, which is Eternal Separation from God.

As soon as Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, the authority given to them of the Earth was transferred to Satan making the Devil the god of this world until Jesus returns the second and last time through the Devil in chains in the Lake of Fire with those unrepentant choosing to ally with Satan over obedience to the Creator.

There is a Devil. Jesus Christ the Son of God defeated the Devil with Resurrection power available to all who Believe. Is the Devil still here? Yes. The Devil’s last and final defeat occurs after humanity’s last test of who is with God and who is not. Read the back of the book – The Revelation of Jesus to John the Apostle.

Until Jesus returns to Redeem the entire planet from the curse of Adam, we have the power of prayer via Redemption activated on Earth by the Holy Spirit. The actions of Believers are only as effective as we are aligned to the power of God through the Holy Spirit. Sometimes protection comes by Holy Spirit led people who thwart the designs of the Devil. In Sutherland Springs Texas, that person was Stephan Willeford armed with a gun and Johnnie Langendorff the side-kick car driver.

The inspiration for these thoughts deserve some reading as well. Hence the below cross post.

Actual Demons Are Actually Real

By Erick Erickson

November 6, 2017, 05:00am

The Resurgent

The Bible makes clear what a lot of people seldom ever think about. Demons are real. Protestants tend to think it is all Catholic talk and secularists think it is all in the movies. But evil is a very real thing and demons are part of it. Though we may not see them commonly, they are there and the church shooting in Texas should remind us of that.

“Where is your God?” the secularists heckle as the American progressives and Nazis and Soviets and Romans and Persians and Philistines all have heckled Christ’s church. He sits on his throne, still sovereign, mourning the dead and welcoming them into His kingdom. On this earth, as it grows more secular, we should expect more of this as evil creeps back in. I think Augustine was right that evil exists in the absence of God.

Missionaries to far off places often have similar stories. The natives are stirred to faith by dreams. But as the gospel moves in there in the shadows the missionaries will sometimes encounter the demonic. It may take the form of a witch doctor or a demonic possession. They are not just in the Bible.

Secularists dismiss this all as superstition. But Christian missionaries are eye witnesses in many cases and Christian churches need to wake up and realize the evil creeping back in with the rising tide of secularism in America. There will be more church shootings. There will be more persecution of Christians. There will be more evil, often masked under the guise of progressive enlightenment. It all comes as American society increasingly shoves God aside.

We do not know all the details of the shooter in Texas. But we should recognize evil and call it evil. And churches should see what happened in Texas and what is happening to culture as a whole and start preparing their congregations for a harder life in the United States. Actual demons are actually real. They take many forms. But they are all evil and all wish to harm the church.

MSNBC Reporter Asks ‘Are Prayers Enough?’ in Wake of Church Massacre

Paul Buford, pastor of River Oaks Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, had a pointed response on Monday when an MSNBC reporter asked him if prayers are really enough in the wake of the horrific mass shooting at First Baptist Church.

READ: They Lost a Child, Grandchild and Great-Grandchildren During the Texas Church Massacre — Here’s Their Powerful Response

“I think, absolutely they are,” Buford, whose church is just two miles down the road from First Baptist, said during an on-air segment. “It’s only our faith in God that’s going to get us through this.”

The preacher went on to say that “prayer works” and delivered a mini sermon about how Christians believe that those who died at First Baptist and who knew Jesus are now in heaven. But the conversation took yet another interesting turn when the reporter asked how, outside of prayer, society can stop events like this from happening.

“I’m not sure we’re going to be able to stop those things, because the word of God tells us that we are gonna face trials and tribulations, that evil is out there, and it’s doing everything it can to attack,” Buford said. “We talk about it’s a gun issue, or we talk about a mental health issue. Well, as pastors and as Christians, we talk about it and say it’s not that; it’s a heart issue.”

He then went on to say that people are focusing on the world and not God, lamenting the state of affairs.

“If we were focused on the [God], then we wouldn’t be having those things,” he said. “We continue to push God out of our schools, out of our communities, out of our government.”

At that point, the reporter interjected to question whether Buford was blaming the shooting on those things and he clarified that he was not and was, instead, speaking to a broader issue that he believes is unfolding.

“We’re in a spiritual battle, we believe, in this world. It’s evil against good,” he said. “Now, we know that good is gonna overcome that.”

Jennifer LeClaire Offers Prophetic Insight on Sutherland Springs Attack

CharismaNews – Watchman on the Wall

The church massacre that killed more than 24 people—including an 18-month-old child—still has investigators puzzled. News reports are trickling out about a connection to a domestic dispute but authorities have yet to say much about what specifically motivated the killer.

“This was not racially motivated; it wasn’t over religious beliefs,” Freeman Martin, a regional director with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at a news briefing. “There was a domestic situation going on within the family and the in-laws.”

We must avoid knee-jerk reactions to politicize this tragedy and hit our knees in prayer for healing. While police look for a natural motive, we know the enemy’s motive all too well.

This massacre, like so many others, has the devil’s fingerprints all over it. Of course, it doesn’t take a prophet to see that, but I don’t mind reminding you amid the outrage and grief that 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelly, the attacker, was inspired by rulers of darkness.

You know I’m not a doom and gloomer, but this not the first attack on a church; it will not be the last. Amid the Sutherland Springs massacre, we must not give in to the spirit of fear, but understand our adversary, the devil, is influencing people to steal, kill and destroy.

We must wage prophetic warfare in the heavenlies because our battle is not against flesh and blood. Jesus said the gates of hell would not prevail against the church. And Jesus is always right. He also told us, “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13b, KJV).

It’s time for the church to rise up with all manner of prayer with prophetic insight, including petitions and decrees, binding and loosing, even as we grieve for those who have been traumatized by this calamity.

Here’s how we can pray:

  • As the Lord to comfort those who are grieving and to deliver them from trauma that could impact them for many years to come.

  • Ask the Lord to fully expose every hidden motive, agenda or mandate behind this attack.

  • Give the pastor of this church the wisdom of Solomon to walk through this tragedy in the days ahead.

  • Bind the spirit of fear over this church, this city and others who are glued to the secular news media waiting for the next revelation about the killer.

  • Decree and declare a cease-and-desist order against massacres in our nation.

  • Pray that those who lost friends and family can truly forgive this atrocity.

  • Pray for awakening and a transforming revival in our cities.

The Christian Way to deal with Sin in the Camp

John R. Houk

© November 13, 2015

The Old Covenant is the blessings and curses of the Law of Moses. The penalty for the curse for breaking God’s directive was a justice that Christians and Westerners would be horrified to see executed in this day and age.

Classic Sin in the Camp Solution

4 So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai. 5 And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore the hearts of the people melted and became like water.

6 Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.

10 So the Lord said to Joshua: “Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face?11 Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. 12 Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you.

20 And Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed I have sinned against the LordGod of Israel, and this is what I have done: 21 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.”

22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it. 23 And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the Lord. 24 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.” So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones. (Joshua 7: 4-6; 10-12; 20-25 NKJVAll of Joshua 7)

The difficulty of sin seems to have caught up with falsely imprisoned Pastor Saeed Abedini who currently is incarcerated in an Iranian jail subject to abuse and persecution for being a Christian. The sin is not given in specifics but in generalities described as marital problems with Saeed’s wife Naghmeh. Mrs. Abedini has let the cat of the bag that Pastor Saeed has been dealing with porn addiction which has caused unspecified emotional and abuse issues in the marriage.

Since the cat is out of the bag Naghmeh has announced she is suspending her public efforts in trying to get her husband Saeed Abedini released from an Iranian jail. I suspect she doesn’t want to deal with humiliating media questions that journalists will now be more interested in personal info on the Abedini marriage more than on freeing Saeed.

The secular media is quite unforgiving when they smell a Christian public figure has personal issues that Christianity views as immoral. Such media trolls have a tendency write anything that places Christianity in a bad light. Why? When Christianity is denigrated publicly the theme is pushed that Christian morality is antiquated and time to be placed in the history books as not essential in a lifestyle of living.

If Christianity is outdated than the concept of a Creator God is then erroneous. Thus moral stands against baby-killing in womb is outdated. The practice of homosexuality labeled as an abomination by God Almighty is okay the Almighty does not exist. Ungodly sexual practices (e.g. adultery, pornography, bestiality, polygamy, prostitution, pre-marital sex, man-boy sex and on and on) can be equated with the norm as long as a greater quantity of people begins to view the practices as not socially denigrating to societal norms.

When a devoted Christian slips into errors that non-practicing Christians and non-Christians are easily susceptible to, then those that condemn Christian/Biblical morality partake into a feeling of self-justification in their own choices.

New Covenant Good News to the curse of the Law

5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. (1 John 1: 5-10 NKJV)

Here’s some Good News for Christians. Don’t listen to people more interested in self-justification rather than in a Redeemer that justifies those who breaks God’s holiness with His own Blood because that which is unredeemed no not what they do. So what about those who have embraced Redemption and should know better?

More Good News: Redemption makes the old twisted nature into a new creation with the stamp of Jesus Christ certifying the newness of life. But, there is more Redemption yet to come. A Redemption accepting humanity has not yet received full Redemption. Neither our human biological flesh nor our human soul in which sensory knowledge still reigns supreme are Redeemed. The union of the new creation spirit-man with the Holy Spirit of God in Christ is the down payment promise that the whole man (and woman) will be Redeemed.

From Suffering to Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. (Romans 8: 18-25 NKJV)

Assurance of the Resurrection

5 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked.4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life.5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5: 1-5, 14-19 NKJV)

Ephesians 1:13-14

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[a] is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Ephesians 4:22-24

22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 1: 13-14; 4: 22-24 NKJV)

When is that Promise to be realized? At the Second Coming of Christ when He returns as King of kings and Lord of lords to restore the whole of humanity and the whole earth to unfettered communion with God Almighty. Knowledge of God’s Will become as instinctive as human thought is in the present.

So what does that mean for Pastor Saeed and Naghmeh Abedini? It means nothing for the nosy particularly for nosy judgmental Christians who need to be just as concerned about the beam in their own eye rather than the speck of wood not clearly seen by the human eye in another. It means everything for the Abedini family of which repentance and restoration is always available to Believers in the Redemptive Blood of Jesus the Son of God and Savior. The process is between the Abedinis and God with the guidance of the man (or woman) of God in which has the spiritual responsibility of oversight by the Anointing of the Holy Spirit.

I am not a part of that process and those reading this probably not a part that process either.

I still pray for Pastor Saeed Abedini’s protection from Christian-hating Muslim Iranians and deliverance back home to the USA – the land of the free and home of the brave.

Naghmeh Abedini is pulling back her public fight to see her husband Pastor Saeed Abedini freed from an Iranian prison.

Christianity Today reports the emotional stress of the effort, along with “abuse” issues in her marriage before and since Saeed’s imprisonment, have taken a toll. CBN News contacted the American Center for Law and Justice, which represents the Abedini family, for a response.

“In recent days, Naghmeh — Pastor Saeed’s wife — has revealed that she is dealing with some very serious personal issues inside her family. She has asked for privacy and prayer. We are respecting her request. The ACLJ will not have any comment on the personal issues that she is addressing,” the ACLJ told CBN News.

The CT article is based mostly on two emails Abedini sent to supporters revealing the problems. In those emails she listed marital problems, including “physical, emotional, psychological and sexual abuse [through Saeed’s addiction to pornography].”

The ACLJ gave CBN News the following statement from Naghmeh Abedini:

“I regret having sent the emails. I was under great psychological and emotional distress. I am now taking time off to heal and to rest and to spend much needed time with my kids. I would appreciate for those who care about Saeed and our family to give us time for rest and healing and to respect our privacy.”

Meanwhile, The ACLJ told CBN News it remains committed to seeing Saeed’s freedom.

“What we are focused on is this: bringing home an American pastor who has been wrongly imprisoned in Iran because of his faith. We know that Pastor Saeed remains in grave danger in prison where he continues to be beaten and psychologically abused by Iranian guards and remains in need of medical care,” the ACLJ said.

“We continue to pray for Naghmeh, Pastor Saeed, and their family. We will continue our work — in this country and abroad — to secure the freedom of this U.S. citizen,” the ACLJ statement concluded.

Naghmeh also asked for prayer to continue for Saeed and their family. CT reported she pointed out that Saeed still shares his faith in Jesus while imprisoned — and that she calls her husband a “treasure.”

“But that does not mean he has not been battling with his own demons which I am believing that he can be freed of,” CT quoted from Naghmeh’s writings.

“I will continue to pray for my husband’s release and advocate for him as he suffers in an Iranian prison for his Christian faith. I would also ask others to join me in continuing to pray for his release,” Naghmeh said in her statement to CBN News.

Saeed Abedini has spent more than three years in an Iranian prison simply for his Christian faith. He is still being mistreated, beaten and denied medical care.

Despite Naghmeh’s revelations, several groups that have stood with the family said they will continue to speak out on her husband’s behalf.

“Regardless of any struggles that Pastor Saeed may be experiencing it doesn’t change the fact that the faith community needs to be a powerful and passionate voice calling for his immediate release and standing with our persecuted brothers and sisters,” said Rev. Patrick Mahoney, who leads the Christian Defense Coalition.

Mahoney has led several prayer vigils across the country and met with political leaders to try and secure Pastor Abedini’s release.

Rev. Rob Schenck, president of the National Clergy Council, has also been actively involved in Pastor’s Abedini’s case.

“It’s hard to imagine the pressures that souls like Nagmeh and Saeed Abedini endure,” Schenck said in a statement released by his office. He reminded people who’ve prayed for the Abedini family that “they are not super heroes, just regular people facing the same problems we all do, only under extreme circumstances.”

Mahoney and Schenck will hold a press conference later on Friday to show their continued support for Pastor Abedini.

“God calls us to stand on principle and justice not personalities,” Mahoney said.

Meanwhile, reaction to Naghmeh Abedini’s personal family trauma on social media has been mixed.

Robin G., writing on CBN News’ Facebook page, said, “Something about his just doesn’t feel right in my spirit.”

Jan H. wrote, “I’m sad that she didn’t keep this private. What is the point in exposing this to the whole world?”

Jenny J. said, “This is absolutely heart breaking. I am shocked.”

Nadege S. added, “It is easy to accuse a man who is locked up thousands of miles away in a dungeon.”

Meanwhile, another poster, Teresa C., warned people not to judge the Abedini’s writing: “We don’t know the whole story and it is not for us to know.”

The emotional and psychological trauma of enduring a hostage or kidnapping situation can be extremely difficult for families and loved ones involved.

“There’s a lot of studies that have shown that families incur post-traumatic stress at the same rate that hostages do,” Chris Voss, founder and CEO of The Black Swan Group, a company that solves business negotiations with hostage negotiation strategies said. “The reality is that this is the family’s darkest hour.”

Voss is a 24-year veteran of the FBI’s negotiation team and was the lead international kidnapping negotiator for the agency.

Voss spoke with CBN News’ George Thomas about the pressures that prolonged, illegal imprisonment can put on families. Click below to watch the interview.

http://cbn.com/tv/embedplayernews.aspx?bcid=4611421810001

“When someone is a hostage, the fear and trauma is overwhelming and unending they don’t know when it is going to end and it is a really horrifying experience for families,” Voss told CBN News from his office in California. “Families are held hostage as much as the hostages are.”

In a Washington Post, editorial Naghmeh Abedini wrote about the emotional toll the ordeal was taking on her family.

“The continued imprisonment of Saeed has taken a very emotional and tragic toll on our family,” Naghmeh said. “My kids have had to grow up without a father. Saeed has missed so many birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions.”

Abedini said since the US and Western countries signed a nuclear deal with Iran, her husband’s physical condition has gotten worse.

“Saeed was being beaten and interrogated by Iranian guards in prison,” Abedini wrote in the Washington Post. “During that encounter, guards interrogated Saeed and used a stun gun on him. Although there was no detailed information provided, Saeed was told he would face additional new charges, possibly extending his eight-year prison sentence.”

Voss says in such cases where a hostage victim endures great physical and psychological torture at the hands of their captors, families back home also feel the pain.

“What we have a tendency to do as human beings is that we imagine it in a very horrific fashion so the people that love him [Pastor Abedini] and the people that care about him are really putting themselves through hell trying to get him out, thinking about what he must be going through. It is truly the families [sic] darkest hour,” Voss said.

CBN News will continue to update

Christianity Attacked by School District in Washington

Did you happen to catch a 20 second blurb on any TV news about a Bremerton High School (Washington State) football coach that got in trouble because his School District told him he couldn’t exercise his First Amendment right to pray on the fifty yard line after a game because some idiot probably complained it violated a myth that the Constitution says there is a Separation of Church and State clause in said Constitution?

Here is an excerpt from gopusa.com that was acquired from the Seattle Times:

BREMERTON — Surrounded by members of his team, players from the rival Centralia High School and scores of supporters from Kitsap County and beyond, Bremerton High assistant coach Joe Kennedy knelt on the 50-yard line after Friday night’s game and prayed.

It was some version of the basic prayer he’s said for years, he said afterward.

“Lord, I thank you for these kids and the blessing you’ve given me with them. We believe in the game, we believe in competition and we can come into it as rivals and leave as brothers.” (Crowd prays with football coach as he defies school district; By Seattle Times; GOPUSA.com; 10/19/15 6:55 am)

Joe Kennedy-Media-Half Time. 10-29-30

I’ll be honest I was a bit amazed to hear of a coach in Washington State, especially west of the Cascade Mountain Range, in which a huge part of the population are Leftist or have Leftist sympathies. I grew up in Washington State. However I grew up east of the Cascades. The difference between Eastern and Western Washington is like night and day.

Most of the State’s population live on the Western side. Probably a little less than a third live on the Eastern side which consists of two-thirds of the State area. The East side is more Conservative but the dispersion of various State Universities on the East side injects the draw of students brainwashed by Left oriented professors. The dynamics of people going to college and work for the college has injected West side Left think in significant voting areas on the East side.

But getting back to Bremerton High Schools Coach Joe Kennedy, that Christian man is smack dab in the middle of the powers that be that are hot to enforce the Separation of Church and State concept. That concept NEVER existed in America’s rule of law until SCOTUS opinion handed down by Justice Hugo Black wrote the majority decision fabricating the myth exists in the First Amendment in disestablishment clause:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”

This is the ONLY place in the Constitution addressing the relationship of government to religious faith in America.

While the concept of separation of church and state might be implied by the First Amendment which states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof….”, it says nothing about the “separation of church and state.” And, even if you accept the principle of the separation of church and state being implied by the First Amendment, it’s implication is not there to protect Americans from religion, it is there to protect religious Americans from the government.

In their desire to promote their secular humanist philosophy using the power of government, many liberals today want to alter America’s Christian heritage and replace it with the 10 Planks of Communism. They want to remove religion from our history and replace it with the Soviet doctrine of the separation of Church and State. They don’t want to safeguard denominational neutrality by the state as the Founders intended, rather they want to eradicate every vestige of religion from our public institutions. (The bold emphasis is mine. America’s Godly Heritage; Jeremiah Project)

Hugo Black wrote the majority 5/4 decision that created extra constitutional law by fiat in the case of Everson v. Board of Education of the Township of Ewing on February 10, 1947. Even after 1947 the Black decision did not go into immediate effect until America’s Left began whittling the Christian faith out of the taxpayer public forum for a good twenty years or via judicial case law after case law. Black’s wording created ex nihilo from a Jefferson letter to a Baptist Church concerned about the state government establishing a Church became the foundation for Leftist case law.

Although I am surprised about a man like Joe Kennedy taking a stand for Christ and the Original Intent of the Bill of Rights. I am not surprised that anything west of the Cascades is pushing an extra constitutional concept against a Christian man devoted to Christ.

Praying football coach placed on paid leave by district

By Associated Press

October 29, 2015

One News Now

SEATTLE (October 29, 2015) — The coach of a Washington state high school football team who prayed at games despite orders from the school district to stop was placed on paid administrative leave Wednesday.

Bremerton School District officials said in a statement that assistant football coach Joe Kennedy’s leave was necessitated because of his refusal to comply with district directives that he refrain from engaging in overt, public religious displays on the football field while on duty as a coach.

Kennedy has vocally engaged in pregame and postgame prayers, sometimes joined by students, since 2008. But the practice recently came to the district’s attention, and it asked him to stop.

He initially agreed to the ban, but then, with support from the Texas-based Liberty Institute, a religious-freedom organization, he resumed the postgame prayers, silently taking a knee for 15 to 20 seconds at midfield after shaking hands with the opposing coaches. His lawyers insist he is not leading students in prayer, just praying himself.

“While the district appreciates Kennedy’s many positive contributions to the BHS football program, and therefore regrets the necessity of this action, Kennedy’s conduct poses a genuine risk that the District will be liable for violating the federal and state constitutional rights of students or others. For this reason, Kennedy will not be allowed to further violate the District’s directives,” the statement said.

The district said Kennedy remains employed by the district and unless his status changes, will be paid through the remainder of his contract term. He won’t be allowed to participate in any activities related to the Bremerton football program although the district said he can attend games as a member of the public.

The controversy has focused attention on Bremerton, across the Puget Sound west of Seattle, and on the role of religion in public schools. On Tuesday, dozens of lawmakers in the Congressional Prayer Caucus sent a letter to the superintendent expressing support for the coach.

Also this week, The Satanic Temple, which has 42 members in its Seattle chapter, announced that its members were open to being invited to a game, and a few students and teachers extended such invitations. The organization doesn’t believe in Satan except as “a potent symbol of rebellion against tyranny,” it says on its website. It’s an atheist group that rejects the notion of supernatural deities and espouses values such as scientific inquiry and compassion, it says.

The group suggested that by allowing the coach to continue praying, the district has created a forum for religious expression open to all groups. It requested permission to perform an invocation on the field after the game. The district had not responded as of Wednesday and did not respond to a request for comment regarding the group.

On Wednesday night, Kennedy’s lawyer, Hiram Sasser, called the paid leave a hostile employment action.

“It’s surprising and shocking,” Sasser said.

He said they plan to file a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which he said is a next step.

[Blog Editor: Below is a side story on the same One News Now article. I find it creepy that Seattle Satanist atheists attend Bremerton High School football game exerting their First Amendment rights. Atheists don’t really pray so the Left doesn’t go after them. Creepy Halloween in Bremerton Washington.]

Sr. class president: I invited Satanic group

(Associated Press) – A student leader at a Washington state high school says he invited a self-described group of Satanists to protest a Christian football coach’s postgame prayers.

Bremerton High School senior class President Abe Bartlett says he was one of a few students who invited The Satanic Temple of Seattle to attend today’s game. He called it an effort to get the school district to clarify its policy: While officials last month asked assistant coach Joe Kennedy to stop praying at the 50-yard line, he has continued the practice.

The Satanic Temple wants to hold an invocation on the field. The group says the district, by tolerating Kennedy’s actions, has created a forum for religious expression that should be open to all groups.

Kennedy’s lawyers, who are with the Texas-based Liberty Institute, say allowing Kennedy to pray silently doesn’t create a public forum.

Maker Recall Notice

This is totally amazing. Be sure to read it. Talk about clever and to the point! Never heard it put quite like this before.

RECALL NOTICE:

The Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart.

This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units’ code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units.

This defect has been identified as “Subsequential Internal Non-morality,” more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.

Some of the symptoms include:

1. Loss of direction

2. Foul vocal emissions

3. Amnesia of origin

4. Lack of peace and joy

5. Selfish or violent behavior

6. Depression or confusion

7. Fearfulness

8. Idolatry

9. Rebellion

The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this defect.

The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs. There is no additional fee required…

The number to call for repair in all areas is:

P-R-A-Y-E-R.

Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure.

Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:

1. Love

2. Joy

3. Peace

4. Patience

5. Kindness

6. Goodness

7. Faithfulness

8. Gentleness

9. Self-Control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.

WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list, and will result in the human unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you for your attention!

– GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by ‘Knee mail’!

My wife and I were in slow-moving traffic the other day and we were stopped behind  a car that had an unusual Obama bumper sticker on it. It read: “Pray for Obama. Psalm 109:8”.

When we got home my wife got out the Bible and opened it up to the scripture. She started laughing & laughing. Then she read it to me.  I couldn’t believe what it said. I had a good laugh, too.

Psalm 109:8 ~ “Let his days be few and brief; and let others step forward to replace him.”

At last — I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for our president!
Look it up — it is word for word! Let us all bow our heads and pray.

Brothers and Sisters, can I get an AMEN?

Our brother, Mike Huckabee has asked his fellow believers to pray with him about this crucial decision. Will you join with us in this?

-Rick Joyner

Dear Friend,

As you may have read or heard in the media, I am prayerfully considering an important decision about seeking the office of President in the 2012 election.

When I look across America, I see a country looking for answers. The challenges facing our nation are monumental, and I see difficult days ahead. I am seeking God’s will concerning His plan for my life and the role He wants me to play in His plan for America.

I am happy in my current position on FoxNews, but I am willing to serve in any way the Lord directs me.

Before I was Governor of Arkansas, I was the pastor of a church. When our congregation faced major decisions, I always asked our membership to join me in prayer, asking the Lord for His wisdom and direction.

When I was Governor, I regularly asked the Lord for guidance on the difficult decisions I was entrusted to make, and I always had confidence in His leading.

I am asking for His guidance now. I humbly ask that you would join me in prayer as I seek to discern God’s will for my life.

Some friends of mine have set up a website called www.PrayForHuckabee.com. Please visit the site to let me know you are standing with me in prayer, and take a few minutes to pray for me and pray for our nation.

Together, let’s pray for God’s mercy on America. Pray that He will heal our land. Pray that I will hear the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit as He leads my steps according to His will.

I value your friendship and your willingness to stand with me at this critical time. Please feel free to forward this email to others who might be willing to join me in prayer.

Thank you. May God bless you and keep you.

Yours truly,

Gov. Mike Huckabee
