Muslim murdered by enraged Christians 3-15-15

Shamim Masih writes of the aftermath of the homicidal-suicide attacks on a Catholic Church and a Protestant Church. In the aftermath of those attacks some Pakistani-Christians became fed up with Sunni Muslim persecution and went on a rampage of their own in which two Sunni Muslims were murdered and burned. Pakistan police have been engaged in a manhunt for the Christian perpetrators. On the other hand Shamim is wondering where is the same degree of justice that Christian victims should acquire from decades of persecution by Sunni Muslims.

Justice without Discrimination, we Demand

Frequently Attacked Christians

Islamabad: Over the last three decades, Pakistan has transitioned from a developing to an unstable and fragile state. Pakistan is confronted with terrorism which has emanated from the events in this region over the last thirty years. Although democracy successfully returned to Pakistan in 2008 after nine years of military rule, Pakistan continues to grapple with economic decline, weakening of the social capital and increasingly violent socio-political conflicts. The weakness of mechanisms to address conflict without violence are compounded by human rights abuses and widening division on the basis of ethnicity, gender and religion. Weakening cohesion between different segments of the society, conflicts over resource distribution, humanitarian assistance and representation often spiral into violence. Relationship between the government and its constituency lack trust, accountability and transparency.

Pakistanis have been attacked in Churches, Masjids [Shia], Imam Baragahs [aka Imambargahs (Shia Mosque) – See HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE], market places and schools. Our children and women were killed irrespective of their religion. Islamist militants in Pakistan have frequently attacked Christians and other religious minorities over the last decade. But the recent bomb attack on two churches in Youhanabad [Also See HERE and HERE] has left Christians terrified and afraid; many in the aftermath ran from the incident site and locked themselves in their homes. Others full of fury and rage rampaged through the streets, and a few of them took the law into their own hands murdering two cohorts of the attack who they alleged were believed to be involved in the terrorist attack. The two men were burned alive in an act that emulated the manner in which many Christians and other blasphemy law victims have been murdered by the extremists in the past years. Now the government has arrested many of them, I take them as victims now. They will suffer and nobody will help them in any sense. NGOs and other so-called activists is regularly going there for photo session but nobody will realize their pain.

We Pakistanis are already living in critical zone; always living under constant different threats, we cannot move freely in parks, markets and we are not even safe in worship places. We always face short of different services, occasionally our Internet and mobile service is struck off due to security reasons. And Christians of the country are an impoverished segment of the nation. It was contrary to their usual reaction. Any Christian around the world supports their [revenge-minded Christians’] arrest and the arrest of any protesters that caused damage to the public and private property. We believe that the rule of law is paramount to order and control. Local Christian leadership has given the names of those who were involved in this incident and some mob destruction of property. Christians normally do not react in this manner. However there are examples of reaction seen many times, protesters even have razed every blockage on their way and destroyed the public and private property. But don’t want to drag the names of the people who have been working for the humanity. There are rumors that authorities has registered the names of some of those people as well. Very obviously; we believe, it is inhuman and degrading treatment [act of revenge], but where [does the anger and fury] come from?

I believe, law breakers must be brought to justice but can someone give me the names of the perpetrators of the Gojra incident where eight family members including two children were burnt alive, how about the people involved in burning 2000 Christian’s houses including 13 churches in Shanti Nager, Shangla [Sangla] Hill and in Joseph Colony Lahore, where 178 Christian house including two churches. What about the protesters, who destroyed the twin city and looted shops and ATM machines around the country when Benazir Bhutto was killed in Rawalpindi. How about the mob that went to French Embassy when there was hue and cry about sketches? In the recent year, how many were punished while attacking the parliament house and even Supreme Court of Pakistan? And most recently how many were punished when Christian couple was burnt alive in Kot Radha Kishan. Justice should be given to all without discrimination.

The government of Punjab and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar claimed to take strict action against the perpetrators of the violence. Mr. Nisar and CM Punjab are answerable to the Christian community to provide justice without any discrimination. We do not condone such violence and hatred said Wilson Chaudhry, chairman British Pakistani Christian Association. We wholeheartedly support the arrests and prosecution of any Christians involved in the murder. But we condemn the excessive force by police who are quite randomly capturing Pakistani Christians in a crack-down that is deemed biased. We call the government to protect all those arrested while they go through legal process, he added. Pakistani media have wholly focused on the murder of “more valuable lives of Muslims”. Their skewed reports on the attack have fuelled the great hatred towards Christians in Pakistan.

The Supreme Court has ordered to protect the worship places of religious minorities. But sadly interior ministry doesn’t seem interested to do so. Ch. Nisar claimed that due to the shortage of the staff, ministry is unable to provide security to all worship places in the country. However police officer told us (agreed not mention his name) thousands of the police officials are fixed in and around Raywind Mohal and the same are deputed in Raywind for the religious services of Sunni Muslims.

It’s another Sunday, Church leaders have called for their parishioners to attend their churches despite threats that their churches will be bombed. It will continue and continue….  Let’s pray for Pakistani Christians, let’s stand with each other, and let’s hold one another. Many of us are tired of government and are looking to build sustainable communities. Governments are their intelligence services and their lack of respect for human rights are wreaking havoc and promoting fundamentalism around the world and especially here in Pakistan.

Be Blessed,

Don’t play with Pakistani Christians

All Saints Church Peshawar

Shamim at the place of twin blast in Peshawar church

ISLAMABAD: As results of the explosions in All Saints Church Peshawar about 126 Christian’s worshipers were killed and more than 160 were wounded. The assailants were Jihadist suicide bombers linked to the Taliban. This was not the first attack on the Christian community in Pakistan nor do we believe that this is a complete list of the victims, but it should be more than enough to alarm the world, especially I would have thought the Christian world. But, alas, with a few notable exceptions there has been an uncomfortable and disappointing local media silence and international civilized champions.

Malala Yousaf Zai, 16, was gunned down last year at her school after angering the Taliban with her courageous and outspoken pleas for girls to be educated. But what about the sacrifices of Sunday school teachers and Sunday school students at All Saints Church, Peshawar? As a Christian Journalist and humanitarian, I find this silence unfathomable. The attack on the church was an act of cowardly violence that brutally targeted innocent Christians. And now she got international fame and honor and million dollars have been added in her fund. My heart bleeds with pain and agony, in what I view as the most atrocious form of suicidal killing attempts. It is [our] country’s responsibility to protect its citizens and tackle the growing militancy and extremism. I have been raising Christian’s voice since Gojra attack on Christians. It is the height of hypocrisy for our Muslim leadership to criticize the Western world for perceived injustice, while they allow the discrimination and slaughter of Christians in their own lands, if a mosque can be built in Paris, surely a church should not be banned in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I went to Peshawar as soon as I heard the news and arrived only hours after the incident. On my arrival I found human body pieces hanging on trees in the church courtyard and other gory remains. A full account can found here:

http://britishpakistanichristian.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/report-on-twin-suicide-attack-on-church.html

On October 6, 2013, I returned again as per instructions of Wilson Chowdhry, Chairman of the British Pakistan Christian Association – BPCA, to chart progress and see how we could provide aid to help the victims. [A] Major portion of the Christians in Pakistan are sanitary workers and laborers working under extremely unsafe and unhealthy conditions. Some work as teachers, nurses, and very few hold higher ranking positions.

According to Bishop Humphrey the local government promised to pay five hundred thousand Pakistani Rupees to the dead victims’ families and two hundred thousand to any victims with severe injury. Since I am writing [this] he [Bishop Humphrey] confirmed that nothing has been received so far.

The two visits have been immensely difficult, I have seen victims with fractured bones and holes puncturing bodies of others, where ball bearings had been included in the incendiary device. I have seen numerous burn injuries of differing degrees and limbs missing from many victims. Some victims have large swelling of their whole body due to the high pressure of the bomb explosives and numerous internal injuries.

Many of the injured now purchase their medicines from the local bazaar without any financial assistance. Many of the medicines are incorrect or simply black market products not worthy of the label medicine. Hospital management teams have discharged those still suffering despite the dire need for continued professional medical assistance.

The critically injured victims require urgent medical care and need to be maintained in a professional hospital. There are orphaned children who are now being cared for by their relatives. These relatives cannot continue to provide for the extra mouths without assistance for any long term. The sad truth is as good intentioned as these family members are now, when push comes to shove they can barely fend for themselves. I am afraid these children will become long term victims forced to work as their school fees will not be affordable, they will certainly not attain any higher education without parental support. Already some children have been put to work and it is hard to ascertain whether or not they were working or studying before this incident.

I have observed there some seasonal human rights workers have installed their shops on the name of caring victims. I saw a brother and his sister in the Mission hospital, Peshawar pretending, helping injured, the same guy was seen in front of the church gate, showing himself as a good Christian social worker. But actually these types of people are black sheep in our society and have hard-pressed me to show their real face to the world. I am working on a documentary and will bring the real face of these land grabbers and money makers in the name of helping Pakistani Christians.

I never asked for money on the name of poor Pakistani Christians, whatever I do I always try to be blatant. I am not a holy angel but try to present reality. Off course I intend to pay the school fees for children who have lost their main breadwinner, will pay for artificial limbs as necessary and will support families who opt to care for relatives’ children financially and with advice. Yes I will continue this work and seek to place those who are critically ill back in hospital. Your donation will be used to provide food to victims who have lost their main household earner and will be provide advice on rehabilitation, Christian orphanages and counseling as necessary. I will be working with Bishop Humphrey Sarfraz Peter to secure the compensation due to victims. If you would like to donate to relief work the bank details are as follow:

IBN code: PK72ABPA

Account number: 0010025935800015

Bank: Allied Bank limited Pakistan

Alternatively account details are given below. With your support I hope to change the lives of millions of Christians in Pakistan.

Be Blessed,

Shamim Masih

Javed Hashmi  rails against Pakistan Blasphemy Law

Shamim Masih writes with a bit of hope mixed in with the frustration a Pakistani-Christian feels living as a second class citizen (dhimmi) in Pakistan. Shamim is wondering if this could be the beginning of a new era for Christians living in Pakistan. What was the catalyst? The Taliban homicidal suicide bombs that blew themselves up at All Saints Church in Peshawar. Depending who and when you read about the terrorist act about 80 to 100 people attending Church died including women and children.

Here is a video in which you can see the immediate results of Islamic Supremacist terrorism.

Is it the Beginning of New Era!

By Shamim Masih

Sent: 9/30/2013 7:59 AM

Islamabad: Pakistan has become one of the most dangerous places for Christians to live. The Urdu newspapers Daily Insaf and Daily Khabrain both reported on 20th August, 2000 that a judge of Lahore High Court, Justice Nazir Akhter said that “Anyone accused of under blasphemy charges should be killed on the spot by Muslims as their religious obligation and that there is no need for legal proceedings for a blasphemer.” Justice Akhter continued, “We shall slit every tongue that is guilty of insolence against the Holy Prophet.”

In April, 2013, the U S Commission on International Religious Freedom warned that the risk to Pakistan’s minorities has reached a crisis level. The Commission said that blasphemy laws, and others, are used to violate religious freedoms and foster a climate of impunity. Blasphemy laws are, at present, the most significant tool for persecution against the Christian community. These laws however have also often been used to settle personal disputes or just to make Pakistan into a Christian-free state.

Minor girl, Rimsha and her family are fortune fled to Canada; no one knows that what will happen to the rest of the Christians of Pakistan. Aasia Bibi, mother of five, after having been given a death sentence, is on death row for a comment that Jesus Christ is not dead but that the Prophet Mohammad is dead. For this, she was brutally beaten by her Muslim co-workers and now she is on death row. In addition to the well-known cases of Martha Bibi, Younis Masih, Rafaqaat Masih, Sawan Masih, and Samuel Masih and many others are also being subjected to killings, imprisonment with long sentences, beatings, and burnings. Killings, oppression and humiliation are more and more frequently taking place in Pakistan. [Bold Emphasis Editor’s]

A shocked Christians could only cry as they tried to take in the bombing which has shaken the minorities particularly the Christians. Am I being judgmental? Yes, absolutely, allow me to say it as it is and not wrap hardened reality in soft velvet covers. The Pakistani government delivers political statement from time to time in the favor of the minorities when some dignitary or delegation is to visit or whenever our premier is on tour to Western World. These statements are only spoken words in the air, nothing is done practically. There is a rigid and permanent policy to erode the rights of minorities and curb them by different methods.

I heard the Christian rights activist, Sohail Johnson said, “We are absolutely sickened and we say loud and clear, ENOUGH is ENOUGH” and Tariq Chaman, journalist and President [of the] Union of Minority Journalists Islamabad/Rawalpindi – UMJI said that these attacks were making Christians helpless and forcing us to leave this country. We don’t have any security here.”

Some are panhandling, attempting to eke out a “living”. Others walk, walk and walk, carrying both visible and invisible burdens, and trying to pass the time before they are allowed back to a shelter. In the wake of Rimsha case, attorney at the time of her trial has started a movement to raise a voice of vulnerable people of his community. Yes, Tahir Naveed Chaudhry, ex-Member Provisional Assembly – MPA, claimed the follower of (late) Shahbaz Bhatti. While celebrating the minority’s day this year, he announced his political struggle with the name Pakistan Minority Alliances PMA. He claimed that he will continue his struggle, which is left behind his late Quaid (leader) Shahbaz Bhatti. During the meantime, he said that PMA membership has risen to 5000 people around the country within a couple of months. With this number he raised a voice against the church blast in Peshawar. Talking to protest rallies in all major cities of country, he demand to revisit the discriminatory laws. From Karachi to Peshawar, his cohorts demanded to find the missing people in the incident in All Saints Church Peshawar.

PMA chief said that he is struggling for [the] panicky minority; Pakistani Christians are among the poorest in the country, often living in squalid settlements tucked away in the country’s sprawling cities. If the government is not serious to address our issues, knowingly or unknowingly they are pushing us to choose another track.

During these hectic days, I assemble [with] another bouncy man, Sohail Johnson chief of Sharing Life Ministry. After visiting the brutal assault, it killed around 100 worshippers during Sunday services. He said that why people are linking the attack on the Christian community with drone strikes? How can a drone attack, targeted by a foreign power be equated with a bomb blast, detonated by militants, infesting the territory of Pakistan? He said by not condemning the terror group, you are encouraging a brigade of narrow minded people in the unbridled pursuit of their lethal agenda that will eventually destroy everything of value of our Pakistan.

Earlier I brought in Albert David chairman Pakistan United Christian Movement PUCM, who is engaged in the unity of Pakistani Christians. He has visited Peshawar twice during this week; he is passionate to bring change among the Christians in Pakistan.

I saw pieces of human flesh scattered on the ground during my visit to All Saints Church Peshawar. I found slippers of small girl and belongings of Sunday school children. In the mayhem surrounding me at that time, the slipper and Sunday school students were all I could think about.

The government will have to take concrete measures to empower non-Muslims through application of Article 226 [PCC Petition US Congress on blasphemy laws and election on reserved seats in PakistanPetition] of the Constitution and amendments in the Blasphemy law [Pakistan Minorities Will Be Unsafe if Blasphemy Laws Are Amended]. There is a limit to tolerate false accusations. Stop hate; don’t force them to ask a province or an independent country. Already Javed Hashmi has spoken logically and emphatically against this law in the National Assembly on 24th September. [Javed Hashmi assails blasphemy law in NA]

Be Blessed,

All Saints Church in Peshawar is Under Attack

Peshawar Pakistan 2

I just posted a Shamim Masih article about the corrupt political system in Pakistan that discriminates minorities with a focus on Christian-Pakistanis. As I was going through my emails I discovered Shamim had sent some news info about two Islamic Terrorist homicidal suicide bombers detonating themselves in an over 100 year old Christian Church killing and maiming Christian-Pakistanis.

Shamim was not privy to all the details by the time he sent the story to me. It has been discovered that the homicidal suicide bombers were the Taliban. The very group of Islamic terrorists that Pakistan’s government has been openly trying to negotiate a political peace because the political party running the show won their election based on demonizing the USA’s Global War on Terrorism (you know – the war that Obama says we are not fighting).

All Saints Church in Peshawar is Under Attack

By Shamim Masih

Sent: 9/22/2013 12:58 PM

Peshawar: The Sunday Church Service at All Saints Church in Peshawar ended in heartbreak as two suicide bombers blew themselves up while the Sunday service just ended. [The explosion] killed more than 90 worshipers, 34 of them women, 7 children and more than 110 were injured. According to the Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan the situation is different but Church sources said the death toll is expected to rise as many of the injured are in a critical condition. [The] interior minister said that the government would bear the cost of rebuilding the damaged church and declared three days mourning. Many other organizations announced the same. Peshawer blast Christian Victims

Peshawar [is the] capital city of KPK province, 188 Km away from the capital Islamabad. All Saints Memorial Church was its distinctive Saracen architecture first opened for service in December 1983 [Editor: I am guessing Shamim meant 1883 – See Also HERE]. The church is located in Kohati gate, an inner city area of the city. The church capacity is about 500 – 600 and usually the gathering is around [that number]. After the church service on Sunday, a person blows himself up and little later another man did the same thing. The blast shattered the glass panes of the nearby houses. Police said that the terrorists opened fire at the security guards at the entrance of the church, possibly killing one. The security’s agency said it was a suicide bombing [and] no group has as yet taken responsibility for this [Editor: As of this posting it is reported it was the Taliban]. They said each of the bombers was carrying eight kg of explosives. The federal government has decided to tighten the security for minorities and the institutions after this incident.

As the country was staggered by the latest bomb blast and Christians all around the country came on the roads to protest against it. Sohail Johnson, chairman Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan lead the protest rally in Lahore in front of the press club, Lahore and in Youhanabad and went to Peshawar city with his group. He said that he is going to provide them with medicine and food items as required. Bishop Yaqoob Paul also participated in the protest rally. Nadeem Anthony Advocate High Court, Yousaf Kamran, Human Rights Activist, Christian Protest Church BombingShaleem Yousaf, social activists also participated in protest rally in Lahore.

Albert David chairman Pakistan United Christian Movement left for Peshawar as soon as he heard about this sad incident. Tahir Naveed Chaudhry condemned the blast and said protection of minorities is a central duty of the state but unfortunately it didn’t do [such protection]. Protest rally was [centered] around the condemnation of the bombing in Islamabad/Rawalpindi as well, Samuel Yaqoob led this rally.

Dr. Paul Bhatti left for Peshawar and strongly condemned the bomb blast and said that terrorists have no religion. He expressed solidarity with the families injured.
