In the video above, Maria Zeee with ZeeeMedia interviews computer scientist Aman Jabbi about the coming international vaccine passport, digital identity, the social credit system being built in the West, and central bank digital currency (CBDC).

All these factors are now coming together to control the global population. As noted by Zeee, this digital prison, which is already mostly built, will be the final lockdown of mankind.

Your Digital Identity Will Be Your Digital Prison

In the video, Jabbi goes through a presentation that explains the digital prison that is your digital identity — in other words, how your digital identity ties in with the coming social credit system and will control what you can and cannot do in your everyday life.

As noted by Jabbi, surveillance cameras with facial recognition software have already been erected around the world. They are an essential part of the control structure, and this surveillance will be linked together with digital identity, the social credit score system, carbon footprint tracking, CBDCs and more.

Facial recognition has been sold as a great convenience and security feature. With facial recognition, you don’t need to remember pins or passwords, and since no one has your exact face, it’s supposed to keep your personal accounts more secure.

But, as with most other technologies sold under the guise of convenience and security, facial recognition is ultimately a tool for mass control and an essential part of your individual digital prison. As explained by Jabbi, the Chinese control system is based on facial recognition in combination with a social credit system.

He describes the Chinese social credit system as a feedback system that responds based on your behavior. Unbeknownst to most Westerners, an identical system has already been set in motion behind the scenes in Western countries — they just haven’t told you yet.

Weaponized Surveillance

By the end of 2022, there will be 1 billion data collecting surveillance cameras in the world, all connected to the internet and artificial intelligence (AI). The United States actually has the most surveillance cameras per capita. China is second place and the U.K. in third.

In addition to all of that data collection, cameras and audio recording devices in cell phones, automobiles and smart appliances also collect and share data, even when you’re at home.

All these data are then used to give each person an individual score based on their behavior, expression and interaction with the world. Ultimately, that score — your social credit score — will dictate what you can and cannot do, what you can buy and where you can go.

As noted by Jabbi, there are also additional control mechanisms already built into the hardware being erected. For example, many smart light poles have built-in charging stations for drones, which in the future will be used for law and behavioral enforcement purposes. We will largely be policed by AI and machines.

These smart light poles can also be weaponized. Built-in are LED incapacitators. Sometimes referred to as “puke rays” for their ability to induce severe nausea, LED incapacitators are weapons designed like a flashlight that emit an extremely bright, rapid and well-focused series of “differently-colored random pulses.” According to Jabbi, these lights can also induce brain damage, spinal damage, sickness and likely even death.

LED combined with radar on some smart poles can also be used to identify people carrying guns, and could theoretically be used as a weapon to selectively take out people carrying weapons.

A New Chapter in the ‘Social Contract’

Digital identity has been described by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a new chapter in the social contract. The problem, as noted by Jabbi, is that the WEF’s new social contract is one that none of us has agreed to. It’s being revised by the WEF and its allies and thrust upon the rest of us, without our consent.

The vast majority of people don’t even know what this new social contract actually entails, or how it will affect their personal day-to-day lives and individual decision-making ability. That, for obvious reasons, has never been fully delineated because, if fully understood by everyone, virtually no one on earth would accept it. After all, few people with normal intelligence relishes having their lives dictated by someone else.

As shown in the graphic above, your digital identity will be required to unlock all aspects of life, from logging onto the Internet to accessing social services, travel, food, shopping and financial services. If your social credit score is too low, one or more of these aspects can be turned off and made unavailable to you. “So, by default, you’re always a prisoner,” Jabbi says.

Your digital identity is confirmed through facial recognition, and is tied to your social score, carbon footprint score and CBDCs. As your social and carbon footprint scores go down, so does your purchasing ability.

As noted by Zeee, the international vaccine passport proposed at the 2022 G20 meeting is, at least right now, THE key to the entire effort to get everyone into the digital ID system. So, preventing the adoption of vaccine passports is a central component of resistance to the digital prison system in its entirety.

You must also reject the vaccine passport unless you’re willing to be a medical lab rat for the rest of your life. Zeee cites documents stating 500 new vaccines will be ready by 2030 that are targeting most common diseases. It is likely that having an up-to-date vaccination status will be one of the requirements to maintain a valid passport, which will also serve as your digital identity.

In other words, vaccine refusal can be used to nullify or “lock” your digital ID, leaving you unable to do, go or buy anything. The question is, what will those vaccines be? Basically, you’ll have no choice but to comply, even if you believe or know that a vaccine can injure or kill you, as is the case with the COVID jabs.

Zero Trust System

As explained by Jabbi, the new social contract created by the WEF and its allies is a zero-trust system. In a physical prison, prisoners are under a zero-trust policy. In other words, the guards don’t trust the prisoners and there are security measures in place to make sure they behave. The new open-air prison system envisioned by the WEF is based on the same premise.

Everywhere you go, you must prove who you are and that your compliance metrics are in alignment with the prevailing rules. So, to buy food, you have to not only identify yourself so that your purchase can be permanently logged as one of your purchases, but you also have to meet certain compliance standards, or else your CBDC won’t work.

The default in this system is denial, so everything you want to do — absolutely everything — must be unlocked by your digital ID. As noted by Jabbi, “Once we accept digital identity, it’s Game Over for humanity.”

Geofencing and Smart Cities Form the Walls of Your Prison

To enforce your conditional access to life, geofencing will be used. Smart light poles equipped with LED incapacitators can be used to prevent you from going beyond your designated geofence, but there are also other geofencing mechanisms. For example, your CBDC can be programmed to not work outside your district, and your smart car can be programmed to shut down past a certain perimeter. Jabbi also reviews the inexorable push toward smart cities, which will:

  • Limit your mobility and eliminate car ownership
  • Control you through weaponized surveillance
  • Ration water, electricity and gas consumption
  • Surveil your speech
  • Track your actions and whereabouts 24/7

Starve the Beast

Jabbi cites a formula created by the WEF’s philosophical guru Yuval Noah Harari, to describe technocrats’ ever-growing ability to hack humans: B x C x D = AHH

B stands for biological knowledge, C is computing power, D is data and AHH is the level of ability to hack a human being. As noted by Jabbi, the ability to hack humans is dependent on AI being fed a constant stream of data.

It’s a “beast system” in the sense that AI is the beast, and it needs to be fed. Its food is data, gathered through a vast array of data conduits such as cameras, recording devices, facial recognition, GPS and sensors of all kinds that make up the Internet of Bodies. AI is an absolutely crucial component for success of the digital prison. Without it, it cannot work. The answer then, is to starve the beast, and we do this by withholding our data. “No amount of legislation can stop this,” he says, “it has to be done by the people.” In short, we must refuse to use the technologies that gather our data.

We won’t be able to avoid them all. Smart light poles and traffic cameras, for example, cannot be avoided unless you avoid certain areas, which could include your own street. But there are many we can avoid, such as smart watches, fitness trackers, smart thermostats, smart TVs, AI assistants and Ring surveillance cameras just to name a few.

We can also fight, on a local level, to prevent the expansion of facial recognition cameras and 5G, and we can refuse the coming vaccine passport, and the push toward virtual reality. As noted by Jabbi, one way in which people are surreptitiously led into the digital prison is by relying on apps that offer convenience, such as apps that allow you to order food or transportation.

Eventually, they’ll phase out apps on your phone and transfer them to virtual reality googles, so that you have to be in the virtual world in order to use them. It’s important to understand why this is done. It’s to force you deeper into the digital prison system, which includes digital clones and living much of your life in a virtual reality.

China Demonstrates Coming Prison State

At present, China is being rocked by massive protests against the Zero-COVID policy that is used to imprison tens of millions of people in their homes for weeks on end. You’d think an American company like Apple would stand for American values like freedom but, no, it does not. It’s working with the Chinese government to quell dissent.

As reported by Bloomberg1 November 9, 2022, Apple is limiting its iPhone file-sharing tool, restricting AirDrops from non-contacts to 10 minutes. The wireless file-sharing feature was used to share pictures and videos from the protests, thereby encouraging more people to join.

According to Bloomberg, while the change was only made to phones sold in China, Apple says it plans to roll out the same limitation globally. Why? Are they predicting anti-government protests elsewhere?

According to a Twitter user named Songpinganq,2 the video above shows iPhone workers clashing with police over the country’s Zero-COVID policy. In response, the Chinese government is alleged to have remotely switched all of the protesters’ COVID passports to “red,” which prevents them from entering public spaces.

If they try to enter a building, for example — including residential complexes — an alarm will go off and they’ll be detained and escorted to a quarantine camp which, by the way, they have to pay for. That’s how easy it is for the government to eliminate undesirables from society once this kind of control system is in place.

(For the record, I cannot confirm that the featured video is indeed iPhone workers, or that they’re specifically protesting the COVID measures. Regardless, the basic premise remains true, which is that government would be able to control large masses of people remotely, through their digital identity/vaccine passport.)

The video3 below is said to be from a Chinese quarantine camp. A health worker walks through the complex measuring the detainees’ body temperature. The second video4 shows the inside of a quarantine cubicle.

The World Is Starting to Catch On

The good news is people around the world are starting to realize what’s happening. As explained by legal philosopher Eva Vlaardingerbroek (video above), the reason there are now mass protests around Europe is because they’re realizing that the COVID vaccine passport system rolled out in Europe is a control system that has no expiration date. They’re realizing it’s meant to be permanent, and that it will be expanded.

In the video below, a young Chinese man describes how the digital ID, CBDCs and the social credit system operates in China. By 2017, they already had the technology to automatically deduct fines from your account for infractions such as jaywalking, and the control network is only getting larger and more sophisticated.

Is this what we want in the West? Is this what you want for your children and your grandchildren? If not, you need to participate in the movement to prevent it, and that starts with making changes in your own life to starve the beast of your personal data, and educating your family and friends about this necessity.

There Are Bad Times to Overcome – So RESIST

I subscribe to Prophecy Update which probably alienates a number of Believers Saved by the Death, Burial and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Rather than engage in heated theological disagreements over the Word of God, WE the Redeemed should all realize that none of us will agree on our perceptions of what Redemption entails for the Redeemed in this AGE before the Return of King Jesus that begins the complete cleansing of the cursed Earth brought to humanity via Adam’s disobedience.

Until Christ’s Return the Redeemed should at least strive to find the common ground issues that all agree upon and stop fussing about the disagreements that only allows elements of the Curse to overshadow the spiritual reality of the Blessings we have in the Risen Savior Jesus the Christ.

I suspect for some Believers, that which is disagreed upon might be too heavy a weight to examine thoughts from those they disagree. I understand. I’ve been there and frankly sometimes and I get quite cranky with what I consider erroneous thinking or erroneous backstabbing.

Well … That’s my “Believers, let’s try to get along” by what we agree upon until Christ Returns to set the entire record straight for all of us.

So, Back to Prophecy Update.

I read two posts I sense are relevant to the corrupt tyranny Americans are experiencing under what I consider a godless Dem-Marxist coup-installed government.

1) “Worthless Hissy Fits” by Daymond Duck posted on 11/19. Daymond begins by writing about Benjamin Netanyahu resuming the Office of Prime Minister for Israel. Then he elaborates on the hissy fits of Globalists internationally and Dem-Marxists in the USA by highlighting their anti-God agendas.

2) “Gates of Hell Prophecy” by Terry James posted by 11/21. Terry’s theme is there is a Gates of Hell that all Believers in Christ will overcome. HOWEVER, until the Return of Jesus, there are and will be times when bad things happen to the Believers in the Risen Savior that will get worse as the days of the Tribulation approach. In these days of seemingly increasing tyranny against Liberty and Biblical Values, I found this an interesting read.

Worthless Hissy Fits

Israel’s new government under former Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to be very conservative (Netanyahu won 64 seats, and his new government will include members from the far right that want to change things on the Temple Mount and the West Bank).

Biblically speaking, the U.S. should eagerly support equal rights for Jews on the Temple Mount (the right to go there, pray there, etc.), Israel’s annexation of all the West Bank (at least some of the Jewish settlements), and more, but White House officials are panicking over changes on the Temple Mount.

They are already criticizing people that may be in Netanyahu’s government, and on Nov. 8, 2022, it was reported that America’s ambassador to Israel said the U.S. will aggressively fight Israel’s annexation of all or part of the West Bank.

Those in the White House are opposing what the Bible says about God’s restoration of Israel, but they do not believe the Bible, so they ignore what it says.

America’s rejection of Jehovah and the Bible, its celebration of perversion, and its desire to divide Israel are major reasons why America is in trouble.

The situation on the Temple Mount will change, God’s Word will be fulfilled, the Jews will rebuild the Temple and resume the animal sacrifices, and the worthless hissy fits (displeasure, anger, temper tantrums) of unbelievers in the White House before the Netanyahu government is even formed will not stop that.

Here are some recent events that recently made the news.

One, concerning world government: on Nov. 10, 2022, Human Events posted an article by Ethan Peck that says:

  • The leaders of all the G7 nations (7 major industrialized nations) took up the same slogan: “Build Back Better.”
  • The CEOs of the 3 American pharmaceutical companies that developed a vaccine for Covid-19 are frequent attendees of World Economic Forum (WEF) meetings.
  • The founders of Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and Google have all attended WEF Young Global Leaders (YGL) training events.
  • Several of the most recognizable people in the media are graduates of the YGL school.

Peck astutely points out that all these people have one common denominator: the WEF.

(Question: What are the odds that all 7 major industrialized nations would adopt the same slogan in the same year?)

Two, concerning financing world government and wealth redistribution: on Nov. 8, 2022, a report was released at the COP27 meeting that calls for “developed countries” to start giving one trillion dollars a year before 2030 to “emerging markets and developing countries,” plus it was suggested that they also cut subsidies on fossil fuels and impose “carbon taxes” to raise about $1.4 trillion dollars more.

I cannot predict what world leaders will do, but these fanatics want control of everyone on earth and more than two trillion dollars of financing pouring in every year before 2030.

(Note: A recent poll found that more than 40% of highly respected climate scientists do not believe that climate change is settled science. The high level of skepticism among experts is one reason why many Bible prophecy teachers believe climate change is a scam to justify the establishment of a world government.)

Three, concerning a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) to eventually track all buying and selling: on Nov. 15, 2022, the NY Federal Reserve Bank announced a pilot program to explore the use of CBDCs for the next 3 months.

Several large banks and Master Card will participate in this pilot program.

I cannot predict what they will do, but I expect them to test the CBDC for the next 3 months and put it into use in at least some places early next year (unless the House or God stops them).

This will be a major step toward a new global economic system and the Mark of the Beast.

Four, concerning the decline of America: on Nov. 14, 2022, the Washington Examiner reported that Pres. Biden implied that the mid-term elections were a repudiation of former Pres. Trump’s “America First” foreign policy agenda.

In a past speech, Biden said “America First” is dead.

Biden’s goal is “Globalism First” (cause the decline of America and Build it Back Better with the New World Order), and he wants the U.S. to lead it.

(My Opinion: On Nov. 15, 2022, former Pres. Trump announced that he will run for president again in 2024. I believe we can expect Biden and America’s shadow government to do everything they can to lock the U.S. into a world government before the election.)

Five, concerning the mid-term elections in Pennsylvania: State Rep. Tony DeLuca was running for re-election, but he died on Oct. 9, 2022 (one month before the vote).

It was too late to change the ballots, so DeLuca’s name was still listed when the election took place.

Pennsylvania will now hold a special election to replace the deceased man that more than 85% of the people voted for.

(Note: Concerning corruption in the election: a Rasmussen survey on Nov. 8-9, 2022, found that 30% of likely voters believed that cheating was “very likely,” and 27% believed it was “likely.”)

(Note: Following the collapse of Crypto Exchange FTX, there have been reports that the head of the company gave more than $38 million of stolen money to Democrats to help them win the mid-term elections, and we may never know the truth, but one report said he was running a gigantic slush fund that was funneling money that was appropriated for Ukraine to selected Democrats.)

(My opinion: Those who do not believe there is corruption in the elections probably believe our border with Mexico is secure, we don’t have a drug problem, inflation is under control, Hunter’s laptop was disinformation, men can get pregnant, our border patrol agents beat immigrants with the reins of their horses, etc. Sadly, it looks like a strong delusion has come upon America.)

Six, concerning COP27: a reader asked this question, “I would like to know what that means to you in the prophecy world?”

Here is my slightly altered answer:

  • In essence, globalists are worshipping Mother Earth, the creation instead of the Creator (they are transforming climate change into a religion).
  • Globalists are replacing God’s Ten Commandments with ten commandments that have nothing to do with God. [Bold emphasis Blog Editor’s]
  • They are seeking to make their commandments global law, and that would empower them to persecute those that do not keep those global laws.
  • Attacking the Ten Commandments is an attack on Christians and Jews.
  • Globalists are replacing the Commandments written by the finger of God on stone tablets with commandments written by humans or a machine on paper.
  • The world religion is shaping up at the same time that globalists are working to establish a world government and world economic system.
  • All of this means the Rapture is close.

Seven, in a Nov. 12, 2022, American Thinker article, author Eric Utter reported that the UN and World Economic Forum (WEF) are working together on ways to dramatically reduce the population of the earth as part of the Great Reset.

Notice that Utter said “reduce” the population of the earth, not “maintain” the population of the earth.

According to Utter, the goal is to reduce the population of the earth by 50% or more by 2050.

Utter asks, “Who gets to decide which humans are expendable, unneeded?”

Eight, concerning a population reduction on earth: on Nov. 14, 2022, it was reported that the Australian government is now saying the danger of vaccinated males age 16-40 getting myocarditis (an infection in the heart that hinders the heart’s ability to pump blood) may be greater than the danger of getting Covid.

According to the report, citizens were told the Covid shots are safe, but they are not.

From now on, the Australian government will advise citizens under thirty not to take the fourth shot.

Nine, concerning the Battle of Gog and Magog: it is being reported that Russia has lost more than 100,000 troops and many weapons in its war against Ukraine.

This is terrible for the Russian troops and their families, and God can destroy Russia’s military no matter how many troops and weapons they have, but He may be weakening the Russian military before it attacks Israel.

Finally, are you Rapture Ready?

If you want to be rapture ready and go to heaven, you must be born again (John 3:3). God loves you, and if you have not done so, sincerely admit that you are a sinner; believe that Jesus is the virgin-born, sinless Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was buried, and raised from the dead; ask Him to forgive your sins, cleanse you, come into your heart and be your Saviour; then tell someone that you have done this.

Gates of Hell Prophecy

Often we overlook much prophetic truth when we read and study God’s Word. The Bible is without limits in its rich wisdom available to be mined. The Creator’s purpose in giving His Word to the human race is to provide direction for living in the most abundant way possible.

Jesus Christ is that Word. The last book of the Bible—Revelation—is the unveiling of Jesus in all His power, glory and majesty.

Prophecy—telling of the future—resides at the heart of that Word. The promises issued from the holy pages guarantee eternal life for each person ever to be born who genuinely accepts God’s grace-given redemption from sin through belief in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Godhead, whom God the Father sees as the nucleus around which all things hold together:

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:16–17)

So, with it established that the Lord Jesus is preeminent in all things, we come back to the opening statement to add that one truth we often overlook deals most directly with the next prophecy to be fulfilled—the Rapture of the church.

Jesus spoke about this commentary’s primary topic—the gates of Hell. Although the disciples He was speaking to really had no concept of what He was referring to, the prophecy and its details have been coming to pass ever since—and are now set for fulfillment.

“He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:15–18)

They didn’t understand the concept of “the church;” at that point they were totally ignorant of that “structure” Jesus prophesied to be built. But built it was, and it is still under construction as each person who comes to salvation is added.

The specific part of this prophecy I want to look at in perhaps a new way is wrapped within the phrases “my church,” “the gates of hell,” and “shall not prevail against it.”

My study of how God deals with people–including believers—in different dispensations leads me to conclude that there are entirely different fates awaiting believers in Christ. And I’m talking about physical fate, not spiritual/eternal fate.

In terms of eternal fate, the gates of hell cannot and will not prevail or win against any believer in Jesus Christ. All believers, of every dispensation, will enjoy the bliss and exultation of Heaven forever. But in terms of physical fate, believers are prophetically scheduled to meet differing destinies.

Here is something we’ve looked at before, but still is not the primary point I wish to address.

Jesus said in Matthew 16, as we’ve read above, that He will build His church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. That has turned out to be the dispensation we call the Church Age. This began at Pentecost, as recorded in Acts chapter 2, when the Holy Spirit came to indwell believers. (I’m aware there are those who believe the church began along the shores of Galilee when Jesus began His ministry.)

On the other hand, the same Jesus, in His ascended form, gave the following prophecy to John to write in the Revelation.

“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” (Revelation 13:7)   

So it is plain that in the physical sense, Satan (his Antichrist) will overcome—prevail against—the saints (believers in Christ). But the gates of hell, referring to Satan’s evil domain, will not prevail over the church. The devil will never be able to physically or spiritually totally overcome or destroy Christ’s Bride, the church.

Now to get to that nuance of examination I hope will help make clear just how important this promise to the church—all believers of the Church Age—really is.

My friend Jonathan Cahn, in his most recent book, The Return of the Gods, points to the spiritually and even physically observable reality that portals of the demonic sort have been somewhat opened in these obviously manifest times of insane, anti-god activity. We’ve examined many of the bizarre manifestations over and over in these columns, but I will only repeat that it looks like God is in the process of turning rebellious human beings over to a reprobate mindset—to demented, upside-down thinking, as Paul prophesied in Romans chapter 1:

I’m in agreement with Jonathan. And I believe these portals equate to Jesus’ reference to the gates of Hell.Those gatesare opening wider by the day, it seems. The demonic minions from those portals, as well as the human minions that are anti-God, intend to completely erase all vestiges of the true Christian church from the planet.

That will never happen. The very God who created all that exists has said so: “The gates of hell shall not prevail against it”—the church Jesus Christ is still building.

I’m convinced that the moment the Restrainer (the Holy Spirit) lifts His hand of restraint against these hellish forces, all believers will go to the Lord Jesus when He says: “Come up hither!” (Revelation 4:1).

The church cannot and will not be on planet earth when those gates of Hellare fully opened and allowed to overcome the saints of the Tribulation era (those saved following the Rapture). We have Christ’s Word on that wonderful promise.

With all the wickedness deluging this time on earth, the end is about to come like a flood (Daniel 9:26). The gates of hellwill soon swing fully open, bringing the most horrible, deadliest time of human history, according to the Lord (Matthew 24:21).

But you and I, if we know Christ for salvation, don’t have to worry for a second about being here to face that time. Jesus said He will keep us out of that hour of horror (Revelation 3: 10). To be sure you are a part of the church that will be taken out before that Tribulation era begins, follow Paul’s Holy Spirit-given instructions.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. IMAGINE when the government controls YOU by limiting or downright cancelling your digital money if you refuse to cooperate with the Dem-Marxist socio-political agenda. When the government controls your means of buying, spending and/or selling; THEN the government controls you. Then your ONLY choices are compliance, rebellion or boning up on how to live a closet Amish lifestyle. And I wrote “closet” because even today the Amish is being persecuted for not complying to government regulations. Although living like a closet Amish might work for survival, ownership is another matter.

The Tyrant Government will still want their taxes. If digital money is all that is permitted by tyranny, the tyrants will expect taxes to be paid digitally. If one is making a grid-free life, acquiring digital money to pay the tyrant tax could be a difficult proposition. Tyrant’s solution: CONFISCATE YOUR PROPERTY!

What better way to shift the world towards the changes required for the “smart money nightmare” to take effect than a crisis or a series of crises. Could recent interventions by the Bank of England be an indication of such a crisis? We don’t know and we don’t know if it is all happening by design and planned well in advance. But we do know they would “never let a good crisis go to waste.”  So recent and significant disturbances in the financial markets are worth noting.

Bank of England Intervenes to Smooth the Market

The British government’s shift toward fiscal stimulus – a plan unveiled by UK Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng – upended British financial markets. The combination of massive energy subsidies and tax cuts alarmed investors, who worried that the British budget deficit would become unsustainable. The result was a very sharp rise in bond yields, a decline in equity prices, and a historic drop in the value of the pound.

In a scathing verdict on the UK’s plans, the IMF urged Kwarteng to “re-evaluate” the tax-cutting plan, which includes the scrapping of the top rate of income tax and an end to a bonus cap for bankers, saying it will “likely increase inequality.”  It urged the UK government to “provide support that is more targeted and re-evaluate the tax measures” during the chancellor’s upcoming announcement.

Shortly after the IMF statement, credit rating agency Moody’s released its own damning verdict, saying the fiscal plan could threaten the country’s credibility with lenders by creating larger budget deficits.

When a government wants to raise money to pay for its spending programme, one tactic is to issue bonds. In the UK, government bonds are called “gilts.”   When the UK government issues gilts, it borrows money from the buyer. The loan term may be a few months, or it could extend to several decades. Bondholders receive an interest payment during the bond’s life and get back their capital when it matures. The interest rate is also known as “yield.”  Today’s bond markets are worth around £100 trillion worldwide, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. Every three months the UK’s Debt Management Office (“DMO”) publishes a Quarterly Review summarising its gilt and money markets operations over the given quarter. The latest Quarterly Review is for April – June 2022. It shows that in the first quarter of 2022 (April -June), 27.5% of the UK government debt was held by insurance companies and pension funds.

On 26 September the Bank of England made a statement that it was monitoring developments in financial markets very closely. In a further announcement on  28 September, the Bank of England (“BoE”) said it was taking measures – carrying out temporary purchases of long-dated UK government bonds – to restore orderly market conditions.

Capital Economics said that the BoE’s steps show “it is going to do all it can to prevent a financial crisis” but that UK markets are “in a perilous position. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if another problem in the financial markets popped up before long.”

Pound Sterling Live wrote that numerous reports suggested the BoE action was taken after UK pension funds were said to be in distress following sharp moves in yields in the gilt markets.

The US market is sensitive to and has been affected by the UK market, Adam Tooze wrote. It raises the question of the overall fragility of global debt markets. Last week tremors were running through euro government bond markets including the German Bund market. “The spasm in the UK market rippled around the world. The EU felt the impact. And so too did the US. As one market participant observed: ‘At the start of the week we were seeing moves in US Treasuries that could only be explained by what was happening in the UK’.”

Professor Richard A. Werner commented on his Telegram channel:

To fight the collapse of the pound, which is due to the excessive money printing since March 2020 (which is done via bond purchases), the Bank of England has announced more bond purchases – more money printing, copying the failed [European Central Bank] ECB playbook.

Coming soon … UK to agree to peg its currency to the US dollar, at a bargain rate of £1 = $1.

Then all eyes on when ECB & Swiss National Bank will follow (= €1). Eurozone countries have no say here, as they gave up monetary sovereignty to a foreign agency not accountable to any parliament.

According to Tooze, far more nakedly than in 2020, the BoE’s hurried interventions in September 2022 have exposed the forces that truly propel central bank intervention in the current dispensation. “The policy of asset purchases may look like …  a coordination of monetary with fiscal policy. They may look like impressive demonstrations of the power of central banks. But they are, in fact, crisis-driven defensive reactions to the spasms of leveraged, market-based finance. What is at stake is not fiscal dominance – the central bank following the lead of the elected government – but financial dominance.”

Corey Lynn notes that BoE is one of 63 members of the Bank for International Settlements (“BIS”):

When carrying out specific activities under BIS, this immunity extends to its members, which is made up of 63 global central banks and monetary authorities, the Federal Reserve System, plus insurers, and payment systems through their subsidiary, that BIS deems “systemically important institutions.”

These are groups of men and women who masterminded a plan to take global control of the world’s money and weaponise it against everyone. As central banks and globalist institutions rush to transition the world to digital currencies, Austrian citizens just delivered a huge grassroots rejection to ending cash.

More than half a million Austrians have signed a petition calling for a referendum on the constitutional enshrining of the right to unlimited cash payments. In a country of 8.9 million, the massive show of support for the “right” to pay with cash demonstrates the growing movement against digital currencies promoted by central banks across the world and institutions like the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The deadline for submission of petitions regarding proposals for seven national referendums ended on Monday. As reported by the Austrian daily Kurier, the right to cash payments received the most support of seven different petitions, with 530,938 Austrians signing it.

Only petitions that receive the signatures of 100,000 citizens or more can force a debate in parliament on the topic. Given the overwhelming support behind the “right to cash” petition, there may be strong pressure to move forward with an effort to secure cash payments in the country.

Unlike Greece, the U.K., Scandinavia, and the Benelux countries, cash is still king in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, which have all bucked the trend towards a cashless society. In Austria, 50 percent of all transactions are still conducted in cash, far above the European average of approximately 30 percent. Germans are also against digital transactions, with just 9 percent saying they would use mobile payments.

The effort to enshrine the right to cash payments in the country’s constitution has already been a topic for a number of years, with the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) already suggesting making a constitutional change to protect cash transactions in 2019.

Austrians may be especially sensitive to the enormous state power that would come with a completely cashless society. The academic, author, and specialist in economic psychology Erich Kirchler said that World War II still influences the thinking of Germans and Austrians regarding the dangers of giving too much power to the state.

“In that case, the efficiency of state institutions becomes dangerous,” Kirchler told AFP.

German-speaking countries place a high value on privacy, and the fact that cash payments leave a minimal trace, makes it the most secure and private means of conducting transactions.

Other countries, such as Sweden, have enacted laws to ensure society continues to have access to cash and the ability to make payments in cash. However, if Austria enshrined the right to cash payments in the constitution, it would mark the most dramatic step yet in Europe to secure cash payments in the future.

Why protect cash?


Privacy and civil rights organizations have long advocated the right to cash with the argument that privacy, civil liberties, and finical security are at stake. Abolishing cash would force citizens to conduct all transactions through a digital medium, such as mobile payments, credit cards, or digital currencies. Banks and electronic mediums remain vulnerable to hack attacks and even natural disasters, for example, if the power grid were to be knocked out. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, which is a part of the Ministry of Justice, warned in a report that a totally cashless society would be extremely vulnerable if the country were attacked or exposed to a natural disaster.

For those concerned about privacy, such as those in Germany and Austria, digital payments give law enforcement and government authorities a direct window into all transactions.

Even more worrying for some, digital money could one day be linked to political and social behavior in Western countries in a social credit system, as seen in China. Already, during the “Freedom Convoy” trucker protests against Covid-19 policies in Canada, the left-wing government of Justin Trudeau took the unprecedented step of freezing the bank accounts of protesters. Although civil liberty groups decried the authoritarian action as a flagrant abuse of power, many critics worry that the action could now serve as a template to deal with protesters and dissent in the future. If dissidents and those critical of government cannot keep their money outside the digital space, then they will have nowhere to hide their finances should governments, like the one in Canada, take action against them.

The financial columnist and analyst Matthew Lynn wrote for the U.K.’s Telegraph in 2015 that the core issue for maintaining cash is the freedom it provides.

On the other end of the spectrum, globalist institutions like the World Economic Forum have long lobbied for a cashless society and have routinely run articles such as “Why we should try to make cash obsolete,” “The benefits of a cashless society” and “Should cash be abolished?” Back in 2017, economist Joseph Stiglitz called for banning all paper currency in the United States, a position the WEF also positively reported on. Central banks across the world are also currently “leading the way” in the race to institute digital currencies. Although digital currencies and physical currency are expected to run in tandem for many, numerous globalist think tanks and economists are pushing for a complete phase out after an adjustment period.

The debate over cash is expected to rage on, but Austria’s case may not only demonstrate the societal challenges of abolishing cash but also the problems associated with countries giving up their national currency. Some critics point to the fact that Austria’s national currency is the euro may jeopardize the entire effort to secure cash payments. After Austria gave up its own national currency, the schilling, in 2002, it lost a considerable amount of control over its own finances. If the EU were to mandate a digital currency, Austria may be able to carve out a temporary exception, but may ultimately have little power to reject such a mandate.

What could possibly go wrong in giving the perfectly apolitical Department of Justice more power over elections?

A few too many one-offs, anomalies, and more than a couple of bad apples are enough to prompt even the most apt to provide the benefit-of-the-doubt to suspect the department has been politicized.

So it’s not very encouraging that the Biden administration’s Justice Department has made voting and elections a top priority, as detailed in my new book “The Myth of Voter Suppression.”

Thus far in 2022, an FBI SWAT team arrested a pro-life speaker at his home, raided the home of a former president, expanded its net for extremism to include concerned parents at school board meetings, all while an FBI whistleblower says the bureau ran interference to protect Hunter Biden.

Such anomalies and one-offs–that tend to always lean in one direction–perhaps shouldn’t raise concerns about the department’s expanding role in American democracy. On Oct. 4, Justice Department officials held a virtual briefing with 300 election officials and workers across the country, primarily about grant funding and physical security of voting sites. That would be entirely appropriate, though one is left to wonder given the Justice Department has too often shown its partisan stripes.

President Joe Biden signed a March 2021 executive order pushing an all-of-government approach to expanding voter turnout, largely based on recommendations from Demos, a liberal think tank. Don’t forget that Biden already set the predicate earlier this year for probing outcomes his party doesn’t like when he declared the election “could easily be illegitimate.”

In late 2020, a Demos policy brief called for the incoming Biden-Harris administration to use executive action to “strengthen Department of Justice’s enforcement of and guidance on voting rights statutes” and “pursue aggressive civil and criminal enforcement of federal voting rights protections.”

The Biden Justice Department obliged, filing lawsuits against the states of Arizona, Georgia, and Texas over their election integrity measures in those states.

Biden further appointed top Justice Department officials with a long record of opposing any voter ID laws and state laws that promoted accurate voting lists.

One is Vanita Gupta, the associate attorney general.

Gupta returned to the Department of Justice after running the civil rights division during the Obama administration, which included overseeing the 2015 lawsuit to try to stop North Carolina’s voter ID law.

Gupta is a former CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and was previously a lawyer with the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, as well as a lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union.

Biden also named Kristen Clarke as the assistant attorney general to lead the Civil Rights Division that oversees the DOJ’s Voting Section.

Clarke was previously the president of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and worked for the New York attorney general’s office and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.

In the face of a bona fide open-and-shut case of voter intimidation, Clarke, as a private lawyer, lobbied the Justice Department to drop its case against the far-left New Black Panther Party, which was seen on video intimidating voters at a Pennsylvania polling place during the 2008 election. The intimidation was perceived as benefitting Democrats, so it apparently didn’t matter. The Obama Justice Department complied with the push.

Clarke further led a lawsuit to stop the then-Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp from enforcing election integrity policies.

In July 2021, the Department of Justice issued guidance on federal statutes regarding voting methods—including mail-in voting—and warnings on conducting post-election audits, which Democrats staunchly opposed.

In June 2021, the Justice Department sued Georgia over its voting law regarding the use of voter ID for absentee ballots. The Biden DOJ’s complaint in federal court contends that provisions of the law were adopted to deny or abridge the right to vote based on race. The following November, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Texas over what it claimed were “restrictive voting procedures.” The Justice Department also sued in July 2022 to claim Arizona election reforms suppressed voting.

The lawsuits continue even void of evidence. As “The Myth of Voter Suppression” points out, the 2022 primary elections, the first test of the 2021 state election reforms, show the laws didn’t suppress anything.

Georgia had a 168% increase from the off-year primary of 2018. In Texas, turnout was 17.7% in 2022, about 3 million votes compared to 17.2% in the 2018 primary. Arizona had a record primary turnout in 2022 of 35.12%, or 1.4 million ballots cast, compared to the 33.3% turnout in 2018, with 1.2 million ballots casts.

In response to Biden’s executive order, the Justice Department announced in May 2022 that it would provide “educational materials related to voter registration and voting” and “facilitate voter registration, for all eligible individuals in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.” Convicted felons have generally been a reliable Democrat voting bloc.

With just a little over a month before Election Day, it will be interesting to see how political the Justice Department will be before and after the actual voting.
