Trump’s Truman moment

Intro to ‘Trump’s Truman moment

John R. Houk, Editor

Posted 5/19/17

Bob Eschliman writing for CharismaNews, introduces a Pastor John Hagee open letter posted at the Washington Times encouraging President Trump to deliver on his campaign promise to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This would be an act recognizing Jerusalem as the Capital City of the Jewish State. This is also an act that would alienate psycho-Islamic Supremacist nations and Multiculturalist-deluded European nations desiring to placate the oil rich Middle Eastern nations.

CharismaNews posted on May 18 while the open letter posted at Washington Times was posted on May 15. I am going to quote Eschliman’s intro as a quote and the Washington Times post in entirety. Eschliman posted three paragraphs. Two paragraphs in the beginning, followed by a partial of John Hagee’s open letter and finishing with a paragraph telling you to read the rest of the open letter. Here is the intro:

Pastor John Hagee, in his capacity as founder and chairman of Christians United For Israel, has written an open letter to President Donald Trump that was published Wednesday by The Washington Times.

In the letter, Hagee reminds the president of one of his predecessors, President Harry Truman, who faced a decisive moment where he had to choose between standing up for Israel or going with the wishes of the rest of the world. He said President Trump will face a similar test during his trip to the Middle East.

But, Hagee noted, the buck doesn’t stop with the bureaucrats—borrowing one of Truman’s most famous catchphrases—but at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office. Click here to read the rest of the letter. Trump’s Truman moment

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

In 1948, when President Truman recognized the newly independent state of Israel, he did so in the face of fierce opposition from his advisers. Secretary of State George C. Marshall — whom the president regarded as “the greatest living American” — adamantly opposed the decision.

Despite the controversy, it is now a source of a great pride for many Americans that our nation recognized Israel just minutes after it declared independence. Truman’s decision to choose morality over realpolitik, in defiance of his advisers, will forever be a focal point of American and Israeli history — and of Truman’s legacy.

President Trump will soon face a similar moment. In a few weeks, as mandated by the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, he will have to decide whether to exercise the legislation’s presidential waver or move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Throughout his campaign, Mr. Trump promised to move the embassy. This promise was vital to securing the support of millions of Christian Zionists around the country, and Mr. Trump like Truman is hearing from naysayers. Moving the embassy will inflame the Arab world, they claim.

Also like Truman, Mr. Trump must contend with well-entrenched anti-Israel bureaucrats at the State Department who will try to use their positions to make moving the embassy difficult. But the buck does not stop with bureaucrats.

The Jewish state has the right to determine where it would place its capitol, and it has chosen Jerusalem. The international community’s decision to cower before Israel’s enemies by keeping embassies in Tel Aviv is disgraceful. For thousands of years, Jews around the world never forgot their holy city. From generation to generation they reiterated their hope that next year they would be in Jerusalem. In the days to come, I pray God grant Mr. Trump the wisdom of Solomon and the courage of Truman.

Olympics Shining Light on Global Antisemitism

Jay Carney White House Press Secretary

Now Even Obama Administration Fails Affirmation Jerusalem is Israel’s Capital

The White House Press Secretary Jay Carney REFUSES to answer the question: “What is the Capital of Israel?” This goes hand in hand with the BBC refusing to list Jerusalem as the Israeli Capital city. In the Olympic list of Capital cities the non-entity Palestine has its Capital city listed as East Jerusalem.

HELLO! There is NO East Jerusalem! After Israel lost the Old City of Jerusalem which included the ancient Jewish Quarter to Transjordan’s (Now Jordan) British led Arab Legion in 1948, Jordan then proceeded to annex the land that belonged to Israel via the original British Mandate for Palestine. This unilateral annexation included the Old City Jerusalem which was then dubbed East Jerusalem.

After yet another Arab invasion of Israel in 1967 and yet another Israeli victory, the land dubbed the West Bank by Jordan and East Jerusalem was reverted BACK to Israel via the same way Jordan usurped the land in 1948. If the Arab nations and Jordan in particular ever intended the land called Judea-Samaria by Israel was ever intended as a national homeland by Arab created refugees later dubbed Palestinians, THEN Jordan would have turned their conquered West Bank land into a Palestinian State.

Jordan DID NOT! In 1967 Israel reclaimed their land by military victory over invaders.

We all know the reason behind the refusal is that the Obama Administration is anti-Israel and is determined to establish a Jew-Hating Palestinian State by forcing Israel to give up land that is of Jewish Heritage INCLUDING the City of David – Jerusalem.

Israel is for Jews. In 1948 the American government recognized Israel as the Jewish State while at least FIVE Arab invading armies invading the sliver of land Israel controlled even though the British Mandate for Palestine was created to establish a homeland for the Jews reuniting them to the land God Almighty Promised to them from the time of Abraham. That Abrahamic Covenant was passed down through the child of Promise Isaac, then to Jacob, to Jacob’s 12 sons and actuated by Moses and Joshua.

As Christians we believe that Abrahamic Covenant would mean Salvation is of the Jews; thus Jesus Christ the Son of God in Divinity and the son of Mary in the flesh is from the tribe of Judah (the son of Jacob-Israel) and the lineage of King David. God promised David there would always be a descendant on the throne of Israel. Conquests and Diasporas ended the throne of David and as such religious Jews await the Messiah descendant of David to reassume the throne of David. Of course we Christians believe descendant is Jesus the Christ (the anointed Messiah) that has brought Redemption to individuals and in His Second Coming will bring Full Redemption including the nations of the Earth.

Jesus in His Kingdom, New Jerusalem

In that future time Jesus sits on the throne of David in the City of David on Mt Zion which is Jerusalem the current Capital of Israel and future Capital of the world under Divine Administration with the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb on Twelve Thrones governing the Tribes of Israel and Administrating the Nations.

Yes the Jews are still important to God as the Chosen People that reign with Christ. The Obama Administration is executing a grievous injustice by not recognizing Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel and the spiritual center of Judaism for Jews globally.

What is wrong with this White House?

At the daily White House news briefing, White House Press Secretary
Jay Carney refused to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

VIDEO: Carney Refuses To Identify Capital Of Israel Twice In White House Press Briefing

This slap to Israel’s face comes after President Obama left Prime Minister Netanyahu sitting by himself in the White House, and Obama’s administration helped the Muslim Brotherhood take power in Egypt. No doubt, if he was asked, Carney would affirm that Cairo is Egypt’s capital. But not for Israel.

We at One Jerusalem need your help in spreading the facts about the current United States/Israel relationship. It more strained than ever.

WATCH :: White House Spokesman Refuses to Identify Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel

About One Jerusalem

When reports began emanating from the negotiations at Camp David that Jerusalem was in danger of being divided, a group of Israelis and Americans decided to mobilize international grass roots support for keeping Jerusalem united under Israeli sovereignty.

One Jerusalem immediately established a website as a central address to unite people from around the world: http://www.onejerusalem.org. Within a few months, hundreds of thousands of people signed a petition in support of keeping Jerusalem as the united capital of Israel.

In January of 2001, One Jerusalem held its inaugural event, the largest rally in the history of Jerusalem. More than 400,000 people filled the hills around Jerusalem’s Old City for an unprecedented demonstration of support for Israel’s beleaguered capital city, just four months after the launch of a deadly Palestinian-Arab assault against the Jewish state. The world watched as the people pledged their allegiance to the preservation of Jerusalem as the eternal, unified capital of the State of Israel, forever open to all the people of the world.

Since then, One Jerusalem has READ THE REST

Jerusalem the Capital of Israel

The Capital city of Israel is Jerusalem. Unfortunately a huge majority of nations refuse to recognize Jerusalem as the Capital city because of the Arabs that have designated themselves as Palestinians claim Jerusalem is a Muslim city and will be the Capital of a sovereign Palestinian state.

1.      The seat of government as stated by the Israeli government is Jerusalem.

2.      During Israel’s war of Independence and national survival in 1948 invading armies representative of Islamic culture and Islamic Supremacism tried to wipe Israel off the map. Israel successfully beat back all the invading armies except Transjordan’s Arab Legion. The Arab Legion in 1948 was under the command of British Officers that alongside the Bedouin army of the Hashemite Monarchy of Transjordan. The Arab Legion pushed the Jewish forces of Israel back to Israel and ended up usurping the Eastern half of Jerusalem aka the Old City in which the ancient Jewish Quarter had resided for over a thousand years. In 1967 Israel took the land back from had then became Jordan.

3.      After the Oslo Accords the Palestine Liberation Organization (an Islamic terrorist organization – PLO) became the backbone and ruling elite of the Accords’ semi-autonomous Palestinian Authority (PA) that would have administrative duties of Arab dominated portions of Judea-Samaria (termed as the West Bank after Jordan’s unilateral annexation shortly after the 1948 war). The PA demanded a Jerusalem Capital but Israel did not accede to that point; nevertheless other points of the Oslo Accords proceeded.

4.      The Jewish heritage to all of Jerusalem is longer and so much more historical than any claim by a group of people that did not even existed as an entity until after 1967.

5.      Therefore Jerusalem as the Capital City is a valid Israel designation and the International Community should respect Israel’s designation rather than fall prey to Islamic Supremacism.

And yet the United Kingdom’s subservience to oil producing Muslim nations is evident by refusing to honor Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital City. The so-called Free Press of the UK has shown its disdain for Israel by apologizing for initially calling Jerusalem Israel’s Capital when they believe that the Press should termed Tel Aviv as Israel’s Capital.

Here is the story from Honest Reporting.

The British Empire Strikes Back: UK Body Rules Tel Aviv is Israel’s Capital

Honest Reporting

Nearly a month ago, The Guardian posted a photo of passengers on Jerusalem’s light rail observing a minute’s silence for Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day. The caption, however, prompted a correction from The Guardian, which had originally (and correctly) referred to Jerusalem as Israel’s capital:

The caption on a photograph featuring passengers on a tram in Jerusalem observing a two-minute silence for Yom HaShoah, a day of remembrance for the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust, wrongly referred to the city as the Israeli capital. The Guardian style guide states: “Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel; Tel Aviv is” (Eyewitness, 20 April, page 24).

Further resources: The Status of Jerusalem

Irrespective of whether the international community recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, it is simply inaccurate to unilaterally confer capital city status on Tel Aviv. Believing The Guardian to be in clear breach of the UK Press Complaints Commission clause on accuracy, HonestReporting submitted an official complaint.

Ironically received on Jerusalem Day, this was the outrageous PCC ruling:

Continued on Page 2

The terms of Clause 1 (i) of the Code make clear that newspapers “must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information”, and the terms of Clause 1 (ii) state that “a significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion once recognised must be corrected promptly and with due prominence”.

In this instance, the Commission noted that the correction published had been a clarification of the newspaper’s earlier claim that Jerusalem was the Israeli capital. The Commission was mindful that while it is correct to say that Israel classes Jerusalem as her capital city, this is not recognised by many countries and those nations enjoying diplomatic relations with Israel have their embassies in Tel Aviv. As such, the Commission was of the view that the newspaper was entitled to refer to Tel Aviv as the capital of Israel. There was no breach of the Code in this instance.

This is astonishing and outrageous. Aside from a sovereign state’s right to determine its own capital, international convention maintains that a capital city is usually where a state’s central political institutions reside. The UK Foreign Office itself states:

Capital City: Israel maintains that Jerusalem is its capital city, a claim not recognised by the UK and the international community. The UK locates its embassy in Tel Aviv.

Unlike The Guardian and the PCC, it does not designate Tel Aviv as the capital.

We believe that this flawed ruling has the potential to further delegitimize Jerusalem’s status as Israel’s capital, giving the British media a carte blanche to follow The Guardian’s lead. And furthermore, the PCC accepts no appeals or complaints on the substance of its rulings, effectively slamming the door in our face. HonestReporting CEO Joe Hyams said in response:

64 years after the end of the British Mandate, it appears that imperialism is alive and well. This ruling is an absolute outrage. The PCC’s role is to maintain standards of media accuracy, not to make political and politicized rulings. That this has been released on Jerusalem Day adds insult to injury and is yet another example of how contaminated with anti-Israel bias, British officialdom has become.

Convention has it that the location of national legislatures, judiciaries and other formal institutions of state make a capital city. What mandate does the PCC, or Britain for that matter, have in deciding that the location of foreign embassies determines a host nation’s capital status?

We will continue to work behind the scenes to bring pressure to bear on this issue. This is certainly not the end of the matter as far as HonestReporting is concerned.
