For A Time Such As This: A Look At Biblical Prophecy


Even though I am a Bible School graduate (then-1984 RHEMA Bible Training Center. Now-2022 RHEMA Bible Training College), Biblical prophecy was not my focus. I know enough to be a prophetic-dabbler. For some (if not many), that is knowing enough to be dangerous in misunderstanding.

I share my early Bible education because I ran into a post on Salvation And Survival that has a Gog-Magog/Russia-China theme I found interesting but hardly can give it the stamp of approval as an expert – BECAUSE I ain’t an expert, but only a dangerous dabbler. I’ll let you experts evaluate the thoughts I found interesting.

Salvation And Survival – A Modern Woman’s Perspective On The Kingdom of God On Earth

Sometimes, as I begin to write, the Holy Spirit reminds me that I am treading familiar ground — that He has counseled me on a particular subject in the past, and suggests I revisit what I received to see if I need to renew my mind. I was amazed! I wrote in 2014-15 about the world in crisis and what I wrote seemed almost like déja vu.

Here is how the Holy Spirit informed me in 2014, and what I wrote….

“What appears to be happening before our very eyes is an alarming coalition between Russia and China. In reaction to strong embargoes on the part of the U.S. against Russia, China appears to be positioning itself as Russia’s new strategic partner. In fact, over the last several months, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party have repeatedly exhorted the People’s Liberation Army to “be ready to win a war.” Xi has repeatedly called for greater military modernization, increased training, and enhanced overall readiness of the Chinese army, navy, and air force. And, if we think Russia and President Putin are just going to sit idly by while we attempt to destroy their economy, then we’re more naive than I’ve thought“.

So, just as in 2014, we now see Russia’s currency destabilizing, following the ruble’s precipitous decline. And it is in China’s best interest to prop up Russia because of their dependency on Russia’s energy supply. In fact, if you will remember, Russia and China were communist allies throughout the Cultural Revolution and Cold War. And as neighbors, their financial and strategic interests overlap. China is a huge buyer of Russia’s natural resources, and Russia is a great consumer of Chinese exports. They are natural allies when it comes to destroying the power of the West, especially the U.S, and it’s only logical that they would like nothing better than to crush our fragile financial system. There’s so much in play right now, and it sure seems like it is aligning with Biblical prophecy.

Which brings me to what I wrote in 2015 as I realized that oil (especially the oil reserves discovered in the Golan Heights of Israel) could certainly be the “hook” that draws the nations into the Biblically prophesied Gog-Magog war.

Additionally, Christians, for centuries, have tried to make sense of Ezekiel 38:15…. And you [Gog] shall come from out of your place in the north parts…”. However, “the north” or “the north parts” has often been understood to be the heavens, and in this case, the second heaven, where satan and his fallen angels and demons live. But that hasn’t stopped people from trying to relate specific humans and geographic locations on the earth when dissecting Ezekiel 38. But in taking counsel from the Holy Spirit in regards to the spiritual war in the heavens, I am beginning to see a different picture.

Let’s consider Ezekiel 38:1-2, which says, 

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face against Gog of the land of Magog, the chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you around and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them magnificently clothed in full armor, a great horde with buckler (small shield) and [large] shield, all of them wielding swords; Persia (Iran), Cush (Ethiopia), and Put (Libya, N. Africa) with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer (modern Ukraine and Russia) and all its troops; Beth-togarmah (Turkey) from the remote parts of the north and all its troops—many peoples with you.

OK, now I’m going to ask you to follow my train of thought and perhaps connect the dots; try to consider this possible interpretation… Let’s start with Genesis, Chapter 10, in which Magog is listed as a son of Japheth, who, himself, was a son of Noah. Genesis 10:5 tells us that from these men, “the nations were separated and spread into their lands, every one according to his own language, according to their constituent groups (families), and into their nations”…  so the fact that Magog is usually understood to be a nation or country makes sense; having been named for the descendant of Noah who was given that land. Just think of Washington, D.C. named for George Washington, or America, named for the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Naming a land after a specific person makes sense to me.

But then who is this Gog that our God is prophesying against? In Ezekiel 38:3, he is called “the chief ruler of Meschech and Tubal”. In other versions of the Bible, this verse reads “O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal”. Before we try to identify Gog, let’s clear up the discrepancy in the use (or lack of) the word Rosh in that verse. Some versions of the Bible translate the Hebrew word ‘rosh’ in verse 3 as a noun referring to a place in Russia. The least credible support for this view is that Rosh sounds like the modern-day name Russia and Meshech sounds like Moscow. In this translation they treat rosh as a proper name. Other versions of the Bible translate ‘rosh’ as an adjective, a disjunctive form of grammar, that indicates a pause. So, verse three would read: “Behold, I am against thee, o Gog, the prince, {pause} chief of Meshech and Tubal”, rather than “Behold, I am against thee, o Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal.”

It is not as important to me to understand where Gog is chief ruler or prince, as it is to know the identity of who Gog is. I can accept that he rules over the nations of Meshech and Tubal, and I can agree, without any problem, that those nations may comprise parts of modern-day Turkey, southern Russia and Iran. It is important to know who this Gog is, and why the Lord God is against him.

So, now I’m going to finally tell you the understanding that I have come to, after much study and prayer. I believe that Gog is one of the demonic rulers (or princes) that satan has assigned to particular nations to carry out his evil directives. Once again, I feel that’s why Paul made such an effort in Ephesians, Chapter 6, to spell out for us that we do not fight against flesh and blood! (Could he have been telling us to not try to identify flesh and blood men as these enemies?) These rulers and princes are the spiritual commanders of the forces of spiritual wickedness that coordinate the game plan and align demonic forces on the battlefield of each nation.

And I do not believe they are constrained by time or place. Gog has obviously been assigned to govern and administer the nations of Meshech and Tubal at a time when they will be unleashing their armies on Israel [remember those all-important and valuable oil reserves in Israel that are tempting to today’s world powers]. Since I often find that the Bible expresses overlapping and dual prophecies — a word from the Lord that is specific to an ancient historic event, but that also applies to an End Times scenario. In this case, the Old Testament prophet Amos says, 

Thus the Lord showed me, and behold a swarm of locusts were coming, and, behold, one of the young devastating locusts was Gog, the king. 

Then in the New Testament, in Revelation, Chapter 9, the Apostle John is given a vision of the Fifth trumpet being sounded, the bottomless pit opening, and the power of the locusts descending upon man to torture him. In verse 11, John says, And [the locusts] had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. It is well understood in the 21st Century that this king will be the Anti-Christ. So, it is certainly possible, and it is my opinion, that the “devastating king of the locusts”, that the prophet Amos saw is the same king of the locusts that John saw. “Gog” could just be the designation of his title or position, [Prince]; and at the End Times he will be known by his proper name, Abaddon.

Nonetheless, I think we must consider that Gog is a demonic spiritual king [chief ruler or prince] who isn’t limited in the length of time he lives or functions. He can rule over many nations at different times; simultaneously or throughout the centuries. But I think it is clear that he is an agent of the devil; with specific duties to battle against God’s plan of reconciliation. I believe that when God commanded Ezekiel to set his face against Gog and prophesy against him, the prophet was being instructed to battle in the spiritual realm against this demonic ruler, and to tell him the Lord God was against him and would defeat him. That was in the Old Testament. In this New Testament Age, I contend that we can do the same thing … in our power and authority in Christ, we can declare to the demonic forces in the spiritual realm, in the Name of Jesus, that God is against them and they are defeated.

I’m sure that this may be a new and very difficult concept for you to accept, since it is virtually never discussed in the Church today. And maybe, you are one of those Christians who doesn’t feel it is necessary to understand Old Testament prophecy. But the God who spoke to, and instructed, Ezekiel is the same God who wants to speak to us today through His Word … all of His Word! For me, it is a matter of knowing that His character never changes. So if God was against the demonic rulers in the spiritual realm in Ezekiel’s time, He is against them today. And if He asked Ezekiel to set his face against that demonic ruler in that spiritual realm, I believe he wanted the prophet to take a stand, with God by his side, and announce the defeat of the evil entities. I believe His command and His desire is for us to do the same. We need to change our focus from trying to identify a flesh and blood man as the source of power coming against Ukraine and the world, and instead, look up and partner with the Heavenly Host in a battle to conquer the Prince of Magog. Just as we understand that the prince of the kingdom of Persia [i.e., a high-level evil angel representing the interests of Satan in the nation Persia] was defeated by the Archangel Michael in Daniel, Chapter 10, we must understand that Gog is a prince of darkness, assigned by Satan to spiritually rule the land of Magog, which includes the nations of Meschach and Tubal (portions of modern Turkey, Russia, the “Stans”, and Iran). He is bigger than any man, but his defeat is prophesied and certain! Hallelujah! May the God above all gods rule this time in history! Amen!

Habakkuk 2:3    For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time. It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, because it will certainly come; it will not delay.

Satan’s World Government

I recently watched a Prophecy Watchers video of Gary Stearman interviewing Dr. Ken Johnson, author of The Ancient Dead Sea Scroll Calendar: And The Prophecies It Reveals.

 

During the interview, Johnson said one scroll that is believed to be written by the Essenes says, “It’s a serious sin to ignore Bible prophecy.”

 

There are at least 10 different verses in the Bible that tell everyone to watch for the return of Jesus.

 

To know to do something and not do it is a sin (Matt. 7:26; James 4:17).

 

I believe Satan’s world government is shaping up, and here are several reasons why I believe that:

 

One, persecution of believers is a major sign of the return of Jesus (Matt. 24:9).

 

Persecution is worse in Africa and Asia than it is in the U.S., but America has abandoned God, the world will soon be ruled by a Satan-worshipper (the Antichrist), he and his False Prophet will try to enforce the UN global ethic (satanic one-world religion), and many pulpits are silent on these issues.

 

In early July 2020, California Gov. Newsome temporarily banned singing and chanting in churches, and he limited indoor worship attendance to 25% of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is the smallest amount.

 

On July 13, 2020, Newsome ordered an immediate lockdown of all churches, restaurants, bars, fitness centers, barber shops and hair salons in the 30 hardest hit counties until the State Public Health Officer decides to let them reopen.

 

All worship services in these 30 counties, including in-home Church meetings, singing, Bible studies, etc., have been suspended, the number of California counties may be increased, and there is no ending date for his order.

 

Several politicians (mostly Democrats, but some Republicans) have refused to stop rioting, looting, and the destruction of property and statues in their area, and Newsome is one of them.

 

It has also been reported that Newsome’s order to ban meetings in churches and homes does not ban protests, but specifically allows them.

 

Who would have thought that some leaders in the U.S. would declare Church and in-home Church Bible Studies and prayer meetings illegal while, at the same time, they are allowing meetings of rioters, looters, and arsonists in the streets?

 

Liberty Council is preparing to fight this on behalf of some pastors and churches, but they could use prayer and support; every person should know that this anti-Christ attack upon God and His Church will not stop with 30 counties in California, and every person should remember it when election time rolls around.

 

Two, Andy Stanley, son of Dr. Charles Stanley, pastor of North Point Ministries in Atlanta, and host to about 30,000 people every Sunday, has suspended in-person worship for the remainder of 2020.

 

Three, in its July/August 2020 issue, Chick Publications reported that Pope Francis said, “Let us welcome this time of trial (this Coronavirus pandemic) as an opportunity to prepare for our collective (one-world government and religion) future. Because without an all-embracing vision there will be no future for anyone.”

 

Pope Francis is clearly doing the work of Satan by pushing for a world government and religion that will be led by Satan worshippers.

 

Four, concerning lawlessness, on July 13, 2020, it was reported that George Soros will immediately funnel another $70 million through his foundations to the militant groups and activist groups that are demonstrating to transform the U.S., and he will funnel an additional $150 million to them over the next 5 years.

 

There is no need to ask when will the rioting stop or what will it take to appease the rioters.

 

Soros sees this transformation of the U.S. as something that will last for years, not something that will end anytime soon.

 

According to the Bible, it will come to a sudden end at the Second Coming of Jesus.

 

Five, on July 17, 2020, it was reported that protestor violence had been going on in Portland, Ore., for about 50 days and that Pres. Trump sent in federal agents to protect federal buildings and to detain people that damaged or defaced federal buildings, etc.

 

Federal agents were using unmarked vehicles to find, detain and question people that were suspected of committing a crime.

 

The mayor, a Democrat, addressed Pres. Trump this way, “Keep your troops (they are federal agents, not troops) in your own buildings, or have them leave our city.”

 

The Gov., also a Democrat, accused Trump of trying to win political points, and the Atty. Gen., another Democrat, threatened legal action.

 

The demonstrators have been on a lawless rampage for weeks; and the politicians in charge, all Democrats, do not want it stopped.

 

Six, concerning world government, on July 13, 2020, Sen. Chuck Grassley expressed concern that the Deep State in the U.S. has become so powerful that some people can commit political crimes and get away with it.

 

He was referring to the fact that powerful politicians (Obama, Biden, Comey, Strzok, etc.) have come very close to toppling the President of the U.S., and nothing may be done about it.

 

Seven, it was recently (mid-July 2020) reported that Bill Gates will soon start testing the first version of his program to identify (face scan, hand-scan, etc.), number, vaccinate and create a digital vaccination record on everyone on earth.

 

Gates plans to start in remote, low-income areas in West Africa and move on to Europe, Asia and then the U.S.

 

Gates’ biggest concern is not creating a vaccine, not the technology, or anything like that.

 

His biggest concern is people refusing to be vaccinated and using the government to deny them the right to hold a job, leave their house, buy, sell, etc.

 

Some stores (Walmart for example), restaurants, etc., are now denying people the right to enter if they are not wearing a mask.

 

Some doctor’s offices and hospitals will not let people enter without a temperature check.

 

Some cities are passing laws to prevent people from moving around if they are not wearing a mask.

 

This is the beginning of not letting people buy and sell if they have not taken the Mark of the Beast.

 

Eight, concerning famine: on July 15, 2020, it was reported that the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said war, the economic impact of the Coronavirus (lost jobs, workers can’t get in the fields, factories shut down, etc.), and natural disasters are causing a decline in food supplies and a rise in hunger and starvation.

 

Severe undernourishment has increased everywhere except in Europe and North America (Matt. 24:7; Rev. 6:7-8).

 

Nine, on July 14, 2020, it was reported that there is a shortage of aluminum cans in the U.S. because more people are prepping, and more people are eating at home due to the Coronavirus.

 

Soups, sodas, and a few other products may be scarce for a while due to this lack of cans.

 

Ten, concerning wars and rumors of wars: on July 16, 2020, U.S. Atty. Gen. Barr accused China of trying to bring down the U.S. and establish herself as the world’s preeminent superpower.

 

According to the Bible, the Kings of the East (China and her allies) will invade the Middle East during the Tribulation Period (Rev. 9:16, 16:12).

 

Eleven, two weeks ago, I mentioned that the World Economic Forum (WEF) announced (on June 19, 2020) that it will hold its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, in Jan. 2021, and the theme of the meeting will be the “Great Reset.”

 

This week, I read that Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said, “Every country from China to the United States must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. In short, we need a ‘Great Reset’ of capitalism.”

 

We are less than 6 months away from a demand by powerful globalists that the life of everyone on earth be changed forever.

 

Every nation, including China and the U.S., must (not should, must) submit to the New World Order (Satan’s world government).

 

I close by saying those that are truly trusting in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins do not have anything to worry about, but time is running out, and those that are not trusting Him could be in trouble.

 

Bow your head; admit that you are a sinner; believe what the Bible says about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus; ask for forgiveness; tell others that you have done this.

Prophecy: What Lies Ahead

Here is an alternative Bible Prophecy thought for you. The USA will remain the most powerful military on Earth and will enhance its military position by embracing nationalism to a greater degree. Turkey will supersede Iran as the Islamic regional power. Hamas will look to Turkey as an arbiter of destiny. Israel and Hamas will reconcile with Hamas becoming the dominant organization over Arabs that call themselves Palestinians. Turkey’s Islamic domination will lead Muslims away from Arab nationalism to a kind of Islamic Universalism leading to the reestablishment of the Caliphate under Turkish auspices.

 

These are just some of the predictions from Walid Shoebat that seems to be the prophetic theme of a new book “The Case for Islamophobia: America’s Final Warning.”

 

I am guessing the prophetic essay “Prophecy: What Lies Ahead” is a preview of what is in Walid’s book. The essay goes against the grain of recent Biblical prophecy pundits and theologians with an emphasis that the book series “Left Behind” has it wrong.

 

I am certain Walid’s predictions will be criticized by both geopolitists and Biblical oriented prophetic writers. Nevertheless, the case is well presented and the only real critic will be the progression of time.

THE RISE OF THE PRINCE OF PERSIA

 

Iran is a nation that figures prominently in the news these days. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, President George Bush mentioned the nation of Iran in a speech and depicted it as being one of the notorious members of the now infamous “axis of evil” nations.

 

Still, most people in the West know very little about Iran, and the vast majority of American’s are completely unaware of the history of the US relationship with Iran, and the fact that the region of Iran actually has had a long and significant role in world affairs.

 

While Persia has had ties deeply rooted in world history, the direct American-Iranian relationship only commenced in the late 1930’s. Persia joined the allied forces against Germany in 1943, and thus the World War II Mid-east theatre provided the stage that began the rather brief history of the US-Iranian relationship.

It is a relationship that has also undergone a complete about face since the 1970’s. Within the scope of this remarkable turn in geo-political affairs in the international relationship between Iran (Persia) and the United States are a host of highly significant factors relative to the prophesied signs of the times, and imminent world events in these Last Days.

 

Today Iranian President Ahmadinejad has renewed an increasing intense hostility towards the state of Israel and has assumed the mantel piece as the voice of Islam with Iran now becoming the dominant Islamic power in the Middle East after the demise of Saddam Hussein and the previous Baathist Iraqi government.

 

EZEKIEL’S ALIGNMENT OF THE MUSLIM NATIONS

 

Ezekiel prophesises that Iran (Persia) will be one of the leading Muslim nations that will side in a major attempt to invade and destroy Israel at a time when Israel is unsuspecting.

 

Interestingly enough during this attempted invasion Ezekiel mention that Sheba and Dedan will voice a diplomatic protest to the invasion. Sheba and Dedan are historical names which refer to the Arabian peninsula and many believe that despite its conservative Islamic rule of law that the Saudi Monarchy are dependent on the West to protect their oil interests because of the fear that the tide of Iranian fundamentalism which overthrew the Iranian Shah in 1979 could provide a threat to their own well being should the masses rise up against the special relationship that the Saudi King has with the so called “Zionist West”.

 

THE COMING OF THE AL MADHI

 

According to the Shia and Sunni versions of the Islamic eschatology the Mahdi ([there is an Arabic word on PDF preceding the word ‘Mahdi’] Mahdi, also Mehdi; “Guided One”) [Sunni Mahdi perspective and Shia Mahdi perspective] is the prophesied redeemer of Islam who will appear on earth before the coming of the day of Judgement (sic). The Madhi is believed to be a future muslim world leader who will not only rule over the Islamic world, but also the non Muslim world in the establishment of an Islamic order.

 

The Mahdi will be a descendant of Fatimah (one of Mohammed’s wives) and will take his name as Mohammed bin Abdullah. The hadith indicates that the Madhi will lead an Islamic alliance with black banners from Khorasan and Central Asia. Kohrasan is known in modern day language as Iran

 

According to hadith, The Mahdi will be a great military, political and spiritual leader who will unite Islam under one Caliphate and conquer many countries. He will attack and defeat Israel. The war will result in the slaughtering of the Jews and the reclaiming of Jerusalem as the capital of Islam and the location of the Madhi’s earthly rule of Sharia law. Their flags will be erected on the Temple Mount when they reach the Dome of the Rock.

 

In August 2009 Iran held a multi-day conference, bringing together politicians, mullahs, students – Shiite and Sunni alike – to plot what can be done on this earthly plane to hasten the coming of the anointed one, a messianic, end times personage known as the Mahdi.

 

For the past five years, the Iranian religious and political leaders have annually gathered together for two days in the city of Qom for what is called ‘The International Conference of Mahdism Doctrine,’ sponsored by the Bright Future Institute. The purpose of the Bright Future Institute is ‘to introduce Imam Mahdi to the world’ and ‘to pave the ground for his reappearance’ and ‘help bring all of humanity to the knowledge of the true savior of mankind, Imam al-Mahdi.’

 

From the establishment of the Islamic Regime in 1979 to Ahmadinejad’s rise to power in August 2005, Mahdism had been a religious doctrine and a tradition that had no political manifestation. The political system operated independently of this messianic belief and of the anticipation of the return of the Mahdi. It was only with Ahmadinejad’s presidency that this religious doctrine has become a political philosophy and taken a central place in politics.
